Does the "3 row" refer to the seating, or the number of parking spaces it takes up? My Ranger is big enough, it's about the same size as my old early eighties F100.

Realistically speaking, with e-trucks becoming a thing, this could actually happen. Take the F-150 Lightning; if instead of replacing the engine space with a "frunk", they did a "cab-over engine"-type design, you could have the driver & front passenger up ahead of where they are now (i.e. the "3rd row" is in fact the first row), and you don't lose any bed space or increase the length of the wheelbase.

This is true - but the old forward control vehicles of the past don’t work today bc of crash regulations. Look at the redesign of the VW bus and the canoo truck and compare them to the classic Jeep FC and VW bus:

There still has to be quite a bit of wasted space up front for crumple zones, and the appearance of a true forward control is really just an design illusion on the modern vehicles.

Size matters to some. Then there are sane people like you and I.
