Well don't I just feel so wholly inadequate now that I know I don't have ACC loll...

My grandparents,had a 1974 Ford LTD that would not fit in their garage by an inch. When I visited them 1975 for a summer job in Florida. Me being the fix it teen ( now an engineer) the 6 inch hole in the concrete block wall was no big deal. The soft wood was a little trial and error.
The bumper nose was the pointy style.
With the newer flat style you would need to move a wall!

I put a bend in my plate and screwed up into the bumper. Had to ventilate it a bit for airflow.....

I don’t have ACC either. If you look at how JHRODD above has bent and mounted his plate, that is how I will mount the Willpower frame bracket - the holes line up with the holes for OEM bracket - no drilling. ?

A while ago, I flipped my bracket upside down so the plate sat lower and partly covered up that bottom opening where the ACC unit would be. It can only be done if you don’t have ACC.

The Willpower allows me to mount it in that same lower location. The bracket I bought is bent similar to how JHRODD bent his plate. The bent tab on the bracket is long enough to allow for mounting with the face of it pointed down, covering the gap but not long enough to mount it facing up, similar to the factory position.

I prefer the lower position, so I’ll trim the width and mount it that way. I’ll post a pic when I’m done - it’s a bit cold today - might wait until it’s 7° C on Friday. Mrs. DukeCanBuildit would have something to say about operating saws and filing it down in the kitchen. ?

I bit the bullet and drilled into my bumper lmao.

Factory was too high, flipping made it sit too low. I made it so it's even to the top of the metal bumper skin.

Can't recommend an after-market low profile license plate bracket because my Ranger has plenty of clearance in the garage. Just for the record here is what I attached to my stock bracket...

Zip tie route lasted about 3 yrs on my YJ. Although it was garaged so no real UV degeneration problems.

I forget which one, but I read somewhere that a particular color of zip tie outlasts all others. But I guess it also depends on the quality of the plastic.

I would say Black, due to it's UV resistance. That was my experience from Satellite TV work in the past, at least.

I used black, and the Jeep is garaged. I think a small rock hit it right at the lock point and broke one.

Long story short I need to park my truck so the front bumper touches a wall in my garage.

On a really cold day the plastic OEM bracket cracked so I want a metal one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could use as a low profile front license plate bracket made out of metal?

Get the Sto N Sho. I installed one on all of my GTI's and Golf R and I loved it.

Hmm, I like that height and I can use the bracket I bought to do the same without modifying it. It’s really just about which face you attach the plate to and how you orient it where it fastens into the existing mounting points.

I’ll try my original height and this height and then make a final call. Thanks Jake - I like having options.

Sumbitch I couldn't find a bracket like that, all I found were for small plates.

Oh well, I'll repair/replace whatever damage prior to selling.
