I didn't have a choice back in 2016 as the Ranger wasn't out yet. When I moved out here I no no use for an F150 anymore and seeing as the Tacoma had such a great history I bought one. It probably was is the worst vehicle I've ever owned and I've had many. I think by now most know my feelings about the 3rd Gen Tacoma but just in case the newbies haven't read my old post. :puke::puke:?
Tell them how you really feel, dad.

It's funny, I prefer the look of the taco to the ranger... In my mind the ranger looks like they took a Ford taurus puffed it up and added a bed instead of a trunk....

That said, it functions better in the areas I really cared about... after market support isn't bad, payload and towing are good, drive train has been reliable (except for the handful of vibrator out there). The only thing I wanted that no one offered when I ordered my truck was a hybrid mid-size truck, think powerboost. That would have been perfect for me.

I am also coming from a forester, something I bought for function not looks... I mean, I gotta say, I think it looked just right once I lifted it (2"), added a roof rack, lights, bigger tires, exhaust and upgraded the stereo and speakers. But at that point it wasn't a subaru, it was a wannabe truck...

^in its various stages... The bottom right was its final form.... The front lights changed from cheap Amazon lights to lasfit fogs, the ditch lights went from rigid spot cubes to baja floods and the roof rack was a load warrior skinny with a bike and kayak mount next to it...
I know what you mean about the Forester. That is what I came from also.

This one is a bit long

No lie that seating position was so uncomfortable that every time we went on vacation I rented a car. We went on a 5,000 mile road trip back in June and I was never uncomfortable once in my Ranger. This truck impresses me every time I drive it and was very impressed after our trip.:inlove:

I swear I felt like I did if I'd owned a boat. The happiest days of my life were the day I bought it and the day I traded it in for my Ranger. ?

Insert comment about not being able to let go of the past and things that were bad for you, but deep down you loved them even though they were so bad for you.... LOL (yes it repeats)

Way cool, I was part of a study to see how many there were in the San Bernardino Mountains. I had a lot of cool pics and made some videos.

Yes, FX Touring with a Cobb tune. Never burned a drop of oil. Solid car for me over the six years I had it. Blasted a Tesla that thought it was hot stuff going up HWY 18.

Yes, I'm a maniac.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
I get what you mean. Before the Ranger I had a 2016 Frontier with the 4.0 V6 and the 5 speed Auto. In general it was a great truck for my needs at the time. Comparing to Toyota I just could not see myself in a Taco what so ever. Drove a few and said no. Even my oldest brother said they feel too much like a car. When the Ranger came out I was definitely curious how it would do with the Powertrain combination. I ended up getting mine just over 3 years ago without test driving one(it was an interesting day) and for the time I had it I can say it was also a nice truck. Of course like anything else I found stuff I did not like, but that didnt stop me from driving it
My Frontier was an '06, NISMO. While it was a complete POS from a breakdown & repair & money pit standpoint... I loved the stupid truck. Hated Nissan. Hated their attitude when I complained. Hated the non-stop shop visits. Hated the $ suck. But truly loved the truck. Target was 250K miles but chickened out at @186K and traded it on my Focus ST. Something was getting ready to go on the Frontier. Not sure what but something was "off." When you've driven something that long you can just tell it. I'd had enough at that point. Still remember when I saw it the last time as I drove off in my new ST. I was a bit sad. Yep, loved it. Weird or what? Still hate Nissan.

Come on Ranger!!!!! Get here already. So SO glad my mid-size truck itch can be scratched by Ford this time. Happy man.

Mine didn't have any real problems until I did the timing belt and apparently it was off by a few teeth.... It's been downhill since than... :-/ (I fixed the timing, but it hasn't been the same since that fateful startup)...

I've had it from new in 2010, it's been a champ the whole time. It's never let me down, of course I attribute that to knowing the cars limits and never exceeding them...
