Well some of the back ordered parts came in. This allowed me to build up the front suspension. Hoping on getting the Three- Link upper control arm bracket and control arm so I can install the rear axle. I can then put it on it's wheels and install the power train.

Well I hung the rear axle today even though I don't have the upper bracket for the three-link. I just wanted to see it with the front and rear suspensions on the frame.

The car is now a roller with 255/40-18s on the front and 305/35-20s on the back. The wheels are American Racing Vintage Boss.

The brakes are installed, plumbed and the pedals are adjusted.

Still waiting on the back ordered steering column before dropping the engine and tranny in.

There is still an awful lot of work to do. If I can get it to a drivable go-kart by spring I will be thrilled.

For me the body work is going to be the hard part. I tend to be anxious and rush my work and wind up doing it over.

Most folks recommend getting it completely assembled and drive it for a 1000 miles or so to shake out any issues then remove the body and do the body work and paint.

My wife keeps reminding me that this is a retirement project and not something that needs to be finished in a few months. I have been trying to spend a couple of hours in the garage everyday and she's telling me a coue of hours two or three times a week.

I like it.

Listen to your wife and do it right. Although, remember, part of the retirement project is driving it during retirement.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!

I'm the same way with paint and body. I've got an odd combination of not enough patience to do it well, and an intense desire to get it perfect. The perfectionism I came by naturally. As I kid I'd visit my old man to find panels on his cherry '56 Chevy reworked. Whenever I'd ask, "I saw a wavy spot in the paint the other day," was the response. At least he had the skill/patience to get it right.

Keep it up and it won't be long.

My son and a buddy of mine helped install the body for the first time. Several areas will need to be relieved to fit around the chassis but was great to see the car looking like a car. Once I have the body sitting correctly on the chassis I start working on fitting the doors and trunk.

The steering column and third link Bracket are still on back order so I am holding off on installing the engine and tranny.

Looks great. I have to stay away from that website. Too much temptation.

Building a kit car has always been on my bucket list. My wife years ago gave me the blessing to do this as a retirement project. I am now retired and am working to check this off the bucket list.

That Daytona coupe is pure sex.
The Daytona Coupe was my first choice but I am 69 and am not as flexible as when I was younger. I just couldn't see my self crawling in and out of it.

It's been since October since I posted any pictures of my Speedstar progress. So her are some. A little body work has been done, the missing suspension/steering parts have been received/installed, the engine/tranny is installed and I have started on fitting the doors/hood.
