Had a chance to look at a Hot Pepper Red XLT today. Walked away impessed with the truck but noticed the driver's armrest/window sill is in an awkward position for use while driving. I usually rest my arm on the window sill in my F150 so this will take some getting used to. Am I alone on this? FWIW I didn't mind the size of the center arm rest and found is usable. I test drove a truck back in November but this is the first time I had a chance to really go over one on my own terms.

Interesting - During my test drive today, I specifically paid attention to both the armrest and the center console - since I like to rest my elbows on one or both of them while driving - I did not find either of them to be awkward at all.

I guess that just shows how much some of this stuff is really subjective and personal like/dislike.

Does the steering wheel telescope? I didn’t test that on my drive. That could make a big difference getting your elbows further back.

I believe one of the video reviews said it does.

on a list of growing complains on my Tacoma is how little is telescops and it doesn't tilt as high upward as I need it

Can you fit one elbow on the door panel and one on the center console? In my F150 I have to lean to one side or the other while I'm driving since the arm rests are so far away and it's quite annoying.

I was able to do that in my test drive yesterday. I may depend a lot on where you position the seat and how long your arms are though. For me it was very comfortable.

It moves forward and back and up/down. Very convenient to get the perfect position.

I’m 6’ and have long arms. My seat comfort position is fully back. When I place my arm on the door arm rest it’s like reaching to use the blinker. When trying to reach the window buttons, my elbow as far back as possible, the buttons are under my wrist? What is the deal with that Ford?

The steering does telescope a little but not far enough.

Wouldn't that be something you would check on the test drive? Comfortability and fit are among the most important reasons I chose the Ranger over another Tacoma.

Good point. The geometry of the layout fits me perfectly, but I am 5'9". The beltline is a little high for propping arm on door but that is a sign of the times. All vehicles have raised beltlines for safety reasons. If they keep going one day you will have a 2 inch high side window to look out of, and it will be at eye level.

If you think it's awkward to rest your arm on an open window sill of the Ranger try it on an '11-'19 Explorer. :D

This would not be the reason I would not be buying a Tacoma, I have owned a Taco TRD and I really don't like the feeling like sitting on the floor.

I am 6' and the only issue I have is the armrest isn't long enough, my elbow slips off the back sometimes. OTOH, the window sill is the perfect height for my elbow. I do have the power adjustable seats and that probably helps a lot.
