Hi Judd,

Seems this turtle is a few months old and good to go on its own. Not quite as small as a Sonoran Desert Tortoise which is about the size of a silver dollar and has no real long tail like this cute little turtle has... Claws look like it digs in mud... Would like to know more about this species...

Sometimes beauty comes in small packages. This little fella was born in our backyard. his moma stayed nearby until nightfall when they moved. We have a small herd of deer that make our backyard theirs, and each year the young are born. This guy was maybe 4 hours in the world when the picture was taken. Could not even stand up and run yet.

Its a good ol' snapping turtle baby. Found him in the driveway while cutting grass. He was a few hundred meters away from the water, so I carried him back.
