So I am in the Florida keys now which has been a ton of rain. One the first day I got my ranger I decontaminated the paint, prepped and applied the 303. It seems like it is not beading after only a few months.

Is this simply a matter of needing to stay on top with regular recoating or will going to something like the carpro quartz offer more protection and last longer?

303 (I assume the spray on protectant) and carpro quartz aren't apples to apples...

Carpro quartz will last longer when properly maintained...

I use gtechniq c2v3 spray on my cars (south florida) and am happy with it... My new ranger will be getting the full on ceramic treatment though...

Thanks, I realize they are not apples to apples, have never considered a diy ceramic. I didn't know if the juice would be worth the squeeze.

It depends on several factors...

Do you have a garage?

Do you have the supplies to clean and prep the vehicle?

What do you want the end state to be? Do you want to get rid of scratches first? Do you just want those pretty water beads?

The materials are probably a hundred bucks for quality towels, rags, applicators and wash gear. Can you do it for less? Yes, but it depends on what you want from the coating... The coating itself can be had for 50 bucks on Amazon or 300 from other more specialized websites....

Check out autogeek.net they are just north of me ~an hour and I usually get stuff within 2 days when I order...

Before you attempt I'd reccomend watching a bunch of YouTube videos and taking your time. Because once it's on, it's on...

:)

I assume he used 303 Touchless Sealant and not 303 Protectant. Not sure why it wouldn't bead.

Because it got dirty or wore off faster due to proximity to saltwater? (just guessing I don't see how long it has been on the vehicle)

I wash my car at least biweekly to declog the sealent and reapply as needed... I find I need to reapply to my hood and rear fenders more often for some reason... Assume it degrades due to environmental factors...

I meant to add, when I wash often times it doesn't bead when I pressure wash, but when I agitate it some with my wash MIT it beads right up.

It was the 303 protectant, it has been raining a ton the last few months and they water beading it just not there anymore.

If it helps it is parked outside 100% of the time and I have the clay mitts etc to do a good prep.

I've never used anything besides the 303 aerospace and protectant.

I use the gtechniq c2v3 spray because it's easy, and doesn't require tons of prep... Wash, rinse, dry and spray it on and wipe it off...

If you're looking for easier, gyeon has a wet coat that is literally spray on, rinse off... I've only used it on one job so far and they like it... Shrug.

I guess I'm confused. I thought 303 Protectant was only for use on vinyl, rubber, plastic, etc. Never heard of anyone using it on paint.

It doesn't say not to use it on paint though...

I mean, I'm not saying I would, or anyone should, but it doesn't say not to...

I think there is some confusion about which 303 product is in question. 303 graphene seems to be pictured above which is meant for paint. 303 aerospace protectant is meant for plastics and vinyl.

Carpro makes a better ceramic than 303 hands down. I don't think anyone will argue that. The ease of application is where 303 and other sprays will win out over Cquartz. Cquartz is what most detail shops will use when you go for a ceramic coating. Done properly and with good prep it can't be beat. I've used Griots Garage ceramic spray and have been impressed with it. Great product and easy to use, similar to the 303 in question. That being said, I don't expect it to survive through winter and into spring. I would expect that out of Cquartz. If longevity is key, Carpro 100%

Yes....everyone kept referring to 303 Protectant which is why I was confused.

And I'm the one responsible for that....I pulled out the bottle, it is the 303 graphene nano spray.
