Thank you for that breakdown! Which one is your favorite?
no problem there is tons of other tires out there that are also great ive heard great things about maxxis at tires as well my buddy runs them on his ranger if i remember his tag ill tag him and maybe he will give some input on them!

so far its been my coopers they are the ones ive owned the longest and put thousands of miles on. the wildpeaks so far have been great but total of miles on them between both my tucks is roughly 2k miles so i dont have enough info on em yet.

You'll never find "the perfect tire". If you find one that's good in mud, you won't like them on pavement. It just goes on and on lol.
Truck King on YouTube put an fx4 with factory tires on it, through some pretty serious mud/deep water. Momentum is your friend in mud most times.
yes and no some new mud terrains are addpating to a new style where they are better on road the bfg km3s and yokohama geoloander mts are great mud tires and are good road tires as well

Forget the tires, there is no magic tire. Fix the muddy spot.
I was more concerned with the snow performance I guess. I mean if it’s better that OEM in the mud that’s a plus. The muddy spot it from how the property slopes. My entire neighborhood is on a hill.

I get that.

Was just explaining why so many of us dislike them.

As a road tire, in the dry, I have no issues with them. Snow is not a huge part of my driving experience here on the front range of Colorado, but it is common enough that I feel better with a tire that can handle anything from a dusting, to an ice storm, to a dumping. I don't have the luxury of working from home with my jammies, fire, and latte. I've got to be at work regardless of the weather.

Add in a little bit off offroading and the sidewalls can become an issue here in the ROCKY mountains.

Again, as a street tire for dry conditions, they're fine. My factory kooks did me just fine through my first half a winter and summer. Offroad traction was fairly decent in the limited experience I had with them. But they had to go before my first real winter with the truck.

I see the kooks as being acceptable for many drivers. I just think Ford should've gone with another factory option on the FX-4s.

But then again, I don't think I've stuck with the OEM factory tire on any of the new rvehicles I've bought in roughly 20 years. So saying I'm a little picky about tires might be an understatement.
I got over the Hankook's on my first elk scouting trip in the Ranger back in '20. Found a piece of baling wire out by Craig on a BLM road.....went through that sidewall like a hot knife in butter. I'm staring down my 3rd set of tires on the truck here in the next few weeks. I went performance with Goodyear with the 2nd set and the wear on the 85K Assurance tires is ridiculous so Goodyear will never again ride my wheels. I spent some time going over options with Dave last night and the Toyo Open Country AT3's is now on my radar. I'm also looking at the Falken Widepeaks and the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus.

I've had the Toyos on for a year now, they're great tires. Never had Falken truck tires but their high performance street tires are the bees knees.

I was so close to going with the Toyo Open Country AT3's but @Discount Tire made me a great deal with the prorated money back on the ridiculous Goodyear Assurance Maxlife's I have on the Ranger now. They gave me $332 back so I went with the "E" load K02's with certificates for $1147. I guess they are on sale right now because they were cheaper than the Toyo's anyway. Plus you can't compare the 10 ply K02 to the 2 ply Toyo's for toughness. The K02 wins everytime....IMO. They will be install next Monday. Now I have to get those offset crash bars installed this weekend. BTW, I went up a size to a LT265/65 18 from my stock 265/60 18's. I'll post pics after installation.

I swapped out the factory Hankooks because I didn't like their wet asphalt performance.

I went to Falken Wildpeaks and they were much better all around than the Hankooks.

Recently I put Cooper Rugged Treks on my truck and put the Wildpeaks on my Jeep for street driving (I have Milestar Patagonias on another set of wheels for Jeep trail riding).

So far, I like the Coopers even better than the Wildpeaks though they're still too new for a long term impression.
How do you like the Milestars? I've always bought Cooper Tires, but a friend recommended these and they're $30 less/tire.

Depends on your driving habits.

The Milestars are a great trail tire but not so great for street driving. Their wet weather traction is lacking.

If primarily driving on the street I'd look for something less aggressive.

I will say that now that I've had the Rugged Treks on my truck for a while, I am sold on them.

Great trail tire with great street manners.

I can't speak for the Milestar tires since I haven't tried them. That said I would recommend a Name Brand Tire like Firestone that can do both On and Off-road. Why you ask? Well it's much easier to have 1 set of tire vs 2 if you don't have the room for it(most individuals don't). Also it's nice to be able to go into most towns and be able to get a replacement vs having to special order the tire if it fails.
