First I've heard about the 2 piece lugs - checking into this. A board member pointed me in the right direction to a vendor who had the Bilstein/shocks-struts in stock. This board is a wonderful source of info most of the time.

Same here. Can someone point me to a thread with the rundown on this? why they are bad, etc. Any recommend aftermarket lugs that work well / look good with OEM wheels? (magnetic gray)

I’ve always just used open backed single piece lug nuts. Never had a problem, even here in Michigan, just some fluid film to prevent rust.

This setup works well for me. I can haul 2 kayaks, store things in the bed locked & covered, and still pull a trailer.
