Engine Cover TSB 21-2147 Warranty Voided

Ordered the cover and didn't know it didn't come with bots.......Anyone know thread pitch? I plan to get them from ACE hardware.

I'm sure a search will show you a couple of places that claim to still have engine covers, and a couple of members that have purchased them recently.

The covers are definitely available. Took me 5 minutes to find one this morning. I called a dealer in Richmond, VA (about 2 hours from me). They didn't have one, but he quickly rattled off 3 or 4 dealers very close to me that were showing them in stock. One is the dealer where I have my '23 on order (20 minutes) away. Sure enough, they had one in stock and it is now in my garage ($107 including mounting hardware and tax).

If there was a TSB, I thought they had to contact you? How would John Doe know?
At least they did the right thing.

You can correct the problem, which is the leak , and forget the cover , unless you just want one, but I wouldn't pay , take it in for the TSB , tell them yours is leaking on 3 and 4 , show them a pic of a rusty floor drain , like Walter did (J/K Walter ) and ask are you supposed to wait till it gets so bad it won't run and needs a head or can you guys just put the damn unbrella on it ? still need to fix the leak though , which they WONT do ...

I haven't been here much lately, but reading this gives me some PTSD. I had a misfire on #1 and the mechanic said the plug well was filled with water. That was back in 2020. No issues since...

Am I missing something or does it not make sense that the TSB says to install a cover that was only put on Lariat's until recently and to my knowledge is not on any current trim level?

My 2020 Lariat does not have the cover . Built late Nov 2019 . I do have one coming with the studs for $88 shipped from QuirkParts .com

Goes to parts dept to add that to the stuff to fix the head

Finds out the part they tried to use to void the warranty was discontinued by Ford.

Were Rangers sitting in the Ford "no chip no ship" lots like the Broncos? If so, how many rain/snow storms did they go through collecting water in the spark plug wells?

Could the leak also affect the EGR valve with those reporting moisture in them?

Walter, glad you got is sorted out and resolved. Your timing for that post on here was coinciding with another member that is no longer with us that likes to stir the pot constantly. He got bumped and then your post shows up. Lots of us thought, here we go again! ? Didn’t take long and we saw that indeed you were legit and definitely having some issues. That’s when the request for contact info was dropped. One thing about this 5G family, when in need we’re there for each other!

Methinks someone who 3d prints a nice cover is gonna make some money. Would need to be larger than your average Ender 3/5 could make though.

I gotta admit looking under mine for rust is on my list now. And maybe having the dealer do my spark plugs instead of doing them myself.
