A standard garage is 20'x20'. That's outside to outside of foundation stem-wall.
So, 19'-1" inside to inside. Then many homes since around the 80's have their furnace in the garage.
Then there is the bollard to protect the furnace from impact.
The ranger is about 17 foot 5/8 inch.
It's already very tight as it is with the standard garage most homes are built with in new home subdivisions.
A foot longer ranger will not fit in those types of garages.
Now, a water heater is likely in the garage.
My 02 F150 which is basically the same length as the current ranger fits in front of it with inches to spare. It fits in the other side of the garage without issue. With a tankless water heater there would be an extra 2'+ on the side that would've been an issue.

So I know this article is about the 6g, but posted it here only because there has been so much discussion and dare I say confusion around the MY23 and MY24, so thought it may fit without being redirected to the 6g forum.

2024 Ford Ranger Will Debut North American Variant Of All-New Midsize Pickup.

Interesting enough, though, it looks like SuperCabs may become a thing of the past in NA as well, with a 6 foot bed option being added for the CrewCab. I would think that will mean 2 different frames, as I would also think the wheelbase may have to change as well.
As I said all along it will be a miracle if we see these on the road here before late Summer 2023 and most likely won’t be till late 2023 early 2024 they are readily available. MAP is just too backed up with Bronco orders. Mid size truck buyers in the US are an afterthought for Ford.

Will still consider one of these but doubt I will go that route as I think they need a bigger engine than the 2.3 and I’m not paying for a Raptor even though I think they will be awesome. Also not a fan of the euro look of the non Raptor versions of the truck. Hopefully the US version will look better.

After seeing everything GM is doing with the twins I think Ford will be behind the eight ball with the Ranger when it finally hits our market.

Crew cab 6' bed is what I want
It's the main reason I don't have a current ranger, that, and the dated interior.

It will fit in a garage. It will be tight, but it will fit. Probably less than 2' of extra space around it
Depending on the length, it may fit (Ranger CrewCab with 6' bed). I would just have to walk around the back of it before closing the garage door. But it would be tight. Same with an F150.

So what it really means is I would never allow my wife to park the truck in the garage, as she would nudge the wall I am pretty sure. Or every time she did drive it, I would have to go out and pull it in the garage for her.

The garage on the house I built years ago was extra deep (but not quite a tandem) to allow for my truck and then a generous work area in front.

That's because a 5G ranger is nearly as big as a 97 F150, maybe a little narrower. Put a lift/level on and bigger tires and it won't.
I would say that is true of a 97-03 F150 regular cab or extended cab with a short bed. My 97 extended cab long bed was definitely longer than my 2020 Ranger Crew cab. With the cabinets at the back of my garage, I had to pull up to where the brush guard was almost touching the cabinets if I wanted to eb able to walk behind the F150 with he doors closed. I don't have to do that with the Ranger.

I was all about waiting for a Gen6. But the more I looked at it all I see is a bigger Maverick. On top of that a fully digital instrument cluster is a big turn-off for me. I love tech. But in my vehicles I much prefer having analog gauges and redundant controls for things like hvac, radio, etc. Too much reliance on digital screens and controls is not a good thing.

And let's not even talk about the almost guaranteed delays and quality issues for the first year or two. I'm looking at you Bronco.

I was never a huge fan of the front clip of the Gen5. But it checks so many other boxes I'll get over it.

That, and a 24-30 inch deep workbench and/or locker(s). I have about 16 inches of front clearance between my workbench & lockers and ~14ish in back. a Silverado (my son's) double cab w/6.5'box will fit with the nose right at the workbench, but the receiver hitch must be out to close the door. A CanyoRado Crew w/6' box would fit, but just not enough walk-around room front or back?

When I'm looking for a new truck in about 3 years , freaking Toyota will probably be the only SCAB out there, and I'll be in quite the dilemma then...
Wait'n see, I guess. the newG Nissan Frontier is available as a King Cab/6'box, I would bet that the beloved Taco and Canyorado next G will have this option as well. I don't have wiretap into the Glass House, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the F-Series camp has a lot of influence over Ranger configurations. Ford has made it clear that their ICE vehicles have a short time to go. Both the Mustang and Ranger next gen's have a published lifespan of 8 years, and it has been said that could be cut some more. Not long after Ford announced that the Focus was being discontinued, Toyota put in a $170 million at TMMM Blue Springs, MS. to build more Corollas

A 1997 F-150 SuperCab with a 6.5' box is a foot longer then a 2019+ Ranger in either configuration. So the Ranger is 12" shorter and 5" narrower then a comparible '97 F-150. They are nowhere near the same size no matter what people keep saying on here. Also you can't compare a regular cab with a short bed for length. It has to be somewhat apples to apples.

Well it looks like I'm keeping my 5G till it or me dies of old age. 6G is no longer mid-sized. Longer, wider, suddenly it no longer fits in my garage. It is aready the same size as a earlier Gen F150. Why does everything need to keep getting bigger with a bigger engine? Their turning the Ranger into a full size and the F150 into a Superduty. Then they make it electric and it can't tow a camper a 100 miles. Madness I say!

A single cab standard bed (6.5') is the shortest combination of f150 that was made then. And that configuration is common from what I've seen on the road, especially for work trucks.
Those are near identical to the current ranger (f150 is 208" ranger is 210.8")

I love my SCAB Ranger and am glad I got a GEN 5 one to boot. Ford isn't even advertising any Rangers. All the commercials are for F150's and SUV's  . I am so glad I got mine when I did.

Are you serious?
No SuperCab?
If so, they can forget me also.
The problem is that the other manufacturers seem to be doing the same thing. The Gladiator especially would be nice as a scab as it is just too long, both practically and aesthetically, for some of us.

This is my 3rd Ford/Mazda pickup in the Super Cab config and I'll be sad if it's not an option any longer. I always need the longest bed possible. Hell, I would love an 8' bed. 90% of the time it is just me and tools in the cab, I pull the rear seats out.

I'm even more excited now about my order (my blend date is TOMORROW!). A much as I like the supercab I do not like the Ranger supercrew. (Just my opinion!)
