In a few months, I'll be in the market for new tires. The caveat is that I will also be buying new wheels. I am very particular in the style of wheel I want, but alas, none are available in the correct offset that would negate leveling the truck. I had been dead set against having to level the truck and install aftermarket intrusion beams, but it is inevitable. So I will level it and buy the wheels I want. The wheels are 17x9 ET12 and the tires will be 265/65R17 or 265/70R17. Since my truck is RWD and would never see any offroad use, should I go to an A/T tire for the looks for the A/S for function ? How would an A/S tire look on a leveled truck ?

I really enjoy my 28mpg at 75mph and I realize the level and larger tires may affect that, so I am trying to lessen the blow by going with the 265/65, but the 265/70 would look better.

Opinions/comments ?

If never going off road, I would purchase the all season...

All season tires will have less of an impact to mpg when compared to all terrain tires.

all season, they will be better for fuel, traction on the street, in rain and likely ride better. also likely last longer too. maybe a very street friendly a / t so you get the look you want without sacrificing for no reason with a off road tire. like the pro comp a/t or maybe like a bfg trail terrain. they look a bit tougher but are much more street friendly than an off road tire.

It would either be the Firestone Destination LE3 or Destination AT2. I figure the AT2 is the most streetable A/T tire. I know there are other brands, but I'm partial to firestone tires.

I am going with Firestone Destination LE3s in 265/70R17 for my 2wd. I think they will look great and perform better for what I need/want from this truck.

A set of Michelins came a close 2nd but the difference in testing (tirerack.com) vs the price pushed me to go with the Firestones.

I just got spacers to remove some rake but not going 100% level. Not lifting the nose enough; Ill be towing with it soon.
Because of the wheels I've chosen, I'd have to level it. Just wondering how a leveled truck would look with all season tires.

Functions over looks. I understand you live in Texas where everything is bigger including the bullshit but it's best to not go for looks over functionality. Also if you are having to change the crash bars due to the wheels then I suggest against the idea due to safety reasons. Last thing you need is to get in an accident and be severely injured.

I'm leaning towards functionality. Where I live plays no part in my own decision. Just because I live here doesn't mean I'm from here and share the same traits as true Texans. Changing the intrusions beams is a necessary evil for fitting larger tires and/or different offset wheels. Believe me, if I could find a wheel I like with more positive offset, I would choose it over changing the beams.

OZ Rally Raid will fit and make it where you do t have to change the beams. Also it ha been confirmed by many on here that on factory wheels with no spacers or suspension changes 32 inch tires will fit.

You would actually be surprised on how much an All Season will beat an All Terrain in Snow. Even when rated with the 3 Peak Emblem most All Terrains do horrible in snow

This is what I’ve wondered as well. Would it look funny to do 32 inch all season on a leveled ranger? Anyone done this?
