Now for the 3000 mile update....

This is still the simplest and bust addition I think you can do for the Ranger. I have been running the "sport" configuration of the GFB DV+ for the entire time now and I am averaging just slightly better gas mileage than before. Not something incredibly significant but a few tenths per mile add up.

However, the real star isn't the MPG, its the performance difference! Wow! Any sign of turbo lag is gone and it is surely noticeable. Acceleration can be counted on to be right there when you need it. The turbo can kick in quick which makes such a huge difference in getting around traffic. With 3000 miles on this upgrade and counting I can only say that I'm thankful I installed it. It was worth every bit of the affordable price and 5 minute install.

Ford if you are reading any of these posts, you should consider shelling out the money and just add this as a standard feature. The GFB DV+ would make a big difference in test drives and really show how the turbo 2.3 liter engine should really perform.

The provided bolts are not like the originals. Am I missing something?

Just use the new ones. The base is plastic.

Haven't heard of anyone complaining about that.

I uninstalled mine today and returned to the factory valve. I had installed it when I had less than 100 miles on the truck and I never got to "know" the truck without it. While the DV+ makes the throttle slightly more responsive, I think it also makes acceleration choppier so i want to test to see if that proves true. The stock screws with the course threads went back in fine but I don't think it would take many switches before the holes would get boogered up.

I am going to install without the main spring and run that way for a while and see how it compares to stock before going to “sport mode”.

I was concerned about how many times I would be able to use bolts vs screws.

That's a good idea. I had considered doing that also but just jumped right on. Please report back after you have had a while to evaluate.

I’m curious, does this mod only affect throttle response at low speed?

I’m feeling more of a fuel mapping issue I think and have yet to address this with the dealer. I’m getting a stumble around 2500 and again at 4500rpm.
2500 miles so far.

I would get a tune first before buying a diverter.

How’s the turbo lag from a dead stop?

It sometimes depends but I would say a majority of the time 80 to 90% of the time it’s not even noticeable.
