15 dollar to see the spot of Wild Bill’s killing spot is ummm ludicrous… I was there when it was 5 bucks, still ludicrous… I just walked down there like Wild Bill would have, yeah got yelled at demanding payment and I offered them a beer instead.. They never took me up on the offer but quit yelling about calling the cops. I was told later by the bartender that I really spooked the concierge with “Yep Bill would have done the same”. I don’t recommend anyone doing that period.. It was a slow time there and fortunately I got away with it. You definitely feel the the deep atmosphere down there.. My wife was still upstairs at the bar working from her laptop, I just got bored and wandered a bit.
I definitely don’t condone any one to do what I did.. it was wrong and we left a huge tip to share with the concierge to make up for my transgressions…

Great trip!!!

You'd be in your glory here. lol No, I didn't see anything related to the show. We only went into two casinos the Midnight Star and The Maverick which was across the street and we had lunch there.
ehhh , i can see why , definitely not a family show ... looks awsome out there ...

I can see why he got spooked. lol

We didn't go inside to see the spot nor would I have paid for it. The only thing we had to pay to see was Mt Moriah Cemetery and that was only $2.00/each and was well worth it.

Just getting to Devils Tower. Big hike tomorrow
Great pictures Bob, glad you made it there to see the sunset. We came close to stopping there on our way back from Deadwood but I was just to tired to drive another hour over that way then all the way back down to Custer. Hope you enjoy your hike tomorrow!!

Honestly I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind and I became an Aerospace Engineer because of it. Yeah even today it stirs memories, I’ve been close but never visited. Yeah it made me to want to be a Rockwell engineer working on our space program as a life goal. I achieved that goal at 35 Years old and then the question was now what?? Here I am still rocking it at 65!!! It’s a great life and thank you for reminding me what started my career path!!

After the cemetery we drove down the hill to Deadwood and spent a few hours walking around. A lot of history in this small town and many people dressed up in old cloths from that era walking around.

They have a tour ($15.00) of one of the original Brothels. There was an older lady (70's) sitting on a bench and when her husband walked out from the tour she said "Now go was your hands". ?

Brian @BS67 We went into the Midnight Star Casino. Not sure if things have changed since you were here but it's really small and there wasn't any memorabilia anywhere. The first floor had a few slots and a bar area towards the back left corner and up stair there was only a handful of card tables. It was still a cool old restored building and we didn't bother to play (lose) any money there. lol

It could be Kevin Costner sold it......???? It is a small place.....there used to be a restaurant upstairs too.

Yeah that's possible and I never thought to ask anyone. There still is a restaurant upstairs but it was closed and they guy said it was going to open back up today so he sent us across the street to The Maverick Casino. Sounds like they were remodeling it but it was a really nice casino inside non the less.

We didn't go in any others since we weren't going to gamble. In Vegas we did because there's so many cool things to look at since they're so much larger. The Bellagio & Venetian Casinio's have so much to look at we spent hours in them. I know it's apples and oranges comparison but when you really don't gamble the sights inside make a big difference. lol

The time (and money) it took to recreate this is crazy. This is inside and you really feel like you're in another country walking through there.

Dave good thing you skipped Yellowstone National park. The floods there are taking out roads and a few buildings are getting washed away too! Hopefully it doesn’t blow from the crazy activity going on.
I haven't had much time to look into this until this morning. The manager here at the hotel said every hotel in this area is now booked because people have been leaving Yellowstone and coming here. Originally we were going to head there after leaving SD but I just didn't have enough time to see everything so we changed plans at the last minute, glad we did now.

Here's some crazy drone footage showing the flooding and a lot of masons under water. What a mess this is going to be and hopefully they don't any more storms anytime soon.
