Looks a leftover from MASH. hopefully klinger wasn’t your pilot
 I text my buddy the picture and he said the same thing. He's been flying most of his life and said "that thing looks like a leftover from MASH. No way I'd go up in that"!

? Come to think of it no wonder Annie didn't want to go up with me. She'd get a ton on life Insurance and is the beneficiary on all my investments.

Hope you have a great time on your trip Bob! I hear it's really nice there you should have a great time!! We thought about going over to Devils Tower on our way back from Deadwood tomorrow but it's just a little far out of the way. Besides Annie's knee is really sore tonight as she pushed it a little to much today so the less walking the better.

We spent our last day here in SD up in Deadwood which is another nice small town. There's a lot of casinos there and shops and there's also Mt Moriah Cemetery where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried. It's actually a nice cemetery to walk through as there's many really old grave sights there and a row from those who served in the Civil War.

There's a lookout point with a flag that flies 24/7. Deadwood was granted permission by the US Congress during WW1 to fly the flag 24 hours to honor all veterans.

IMG_6388.jpg

There was a nice breeze so the flag was flying just perfect for this shot!

To the left of the flag is a lookout of the town of Deadwood below.

This one kind of freaked me out a little. Not sure I liked seeing my name on a street sign in a cemetery. o_O?

I remember someone telling me here on my other thread to go through Custer State Park so you can see Mt Rushmore through the tunnel. So Jim told us the best route to take where we'd start at Needles Highway and make our way down to the end and finally into Rushmore. I think we spent a little over 3 hours at CSP today and will definitely be going back before we leave. My God there's so much beauty in this country and we haven't even scratched the surface.

When entering we came to Sylvan Lake. You can walk all around it but we figured we'd do that an other day so we could drive through today and let Annie's knee rest some more.

From there you drive through a tight winding road through the park and all the granite formations. These are amazing to see up close and are all so different.

Check out the tunnel you drive through. there's several of these all throughout the park.

After the cemetery we drove down the hill to Deadwood and spent a few hours walking around. A lot of history in this small town and many people dressed up in old cloths from that era walking around.

They have a tour ($15.00) of one of the original Brothels. There was an older lady (70's) sitting on a bench and when her husband walked out from the tour she said "Now go was your hands". ?

Brian @BS67 We went into the Midnight Star Casino. Not sure if things have changed since you were here but it's really small and there wasn't any memorabilia anywhere. The first floor had a few slots and a bar area towards the back left corner and up stair there was only a handful of card tables. It was still a cool old restored building and we didn't bother to play (lose) any money there. lol

We drove down Spearfish Canyon on our way home. It's a windy road that follows a river and a lot of good lookouts. There's a waterfall there called Bridal Veil Falls which was running really good since there were some heavy storms here the past couple nights. I walked down the hill and got right underneath it which was really cool.

So far between CO & SD we've had such a great time and really love and enjoyed these two states. All of you that live here and very lucky to have this and be able to enjoy the scenery every day!

From the lookout area.

The last part of Spearfish Canyon we came to another small fall. Nothing as nice as the first one but still some nice scenery.

SWEET ! I like me some casinos ... Did you see any references there to the HBO show "DeadWood" ?

Damn, the profanity on that show was epic...
You'd be in your glory here. lol No, I didn't see anything related to the show. We only went into two casinos the Midnight Star and The Maverick which was across the street and we had lunch there.
