After Flagstaff we headed to Monument Valley to check out the sites. I listed details on how they formed in the first post. It's pretty amazing seeing these up close and the road is a giant dust bowl so all that hard work detailing gone to waste. I'll have to find a car wash tomorrow and give it a bath. lol

Thanks again for all the kind words and suggestions. We just rolled into Colorado around 7:00 pm so we're off to get something to eat and crash early. Been up since 3:30 and it's a long day.

This darn truck always seems to impress me every time I drive it. Now I filled up in Flagstaff and averaged 75 mph and at times 85 mph and got 26.7 mpg! I've recalculated the fuel adjustment a while back so it's very close and this is through a lot of different elevation changes where 6,000"-7,000' were average.

Anyone who's see Forest Gump remembers the scene where he's running down the road. This is the famous spot.

Run Forest Run! ?

Coming into Durango, CO from Cortez, CO. The air is so nice and crisp/cool compared to ours back in AZ right now. It was mid 70's when we got in. ?

Say hi to Emilio at Tequilas in Durango if you get a chance. Nice man..

Above all , slow down now that you hit your first destination. Enjoy yourself, itineraries are suggestions!! The road drive times can be very deceiving and longer than advertised.. been there done that..

Don’t stress at making your target waypoints. It will suck the enjoyment factor out of you.

Remember YOU ARE ON VACATION!!!

Enjoy and looking forward to you sharing your journey!

Tires now match your Sabre truck.
I was going to say the dust is nearly the same color as your truck...
That's one good things about the red clay dust in UT, from a distance my truck still looks clean. lol I'll see how long I can last before washing it now.

There was a list of some of the "best" restaurants in Durango and I think Tequilas was one of them so we'll have to try it.

I try never to rush when we're on vacation. We make a list of things to do and priorities certain ones but don't stress out if we can't fit them all in. After a long first day we'll probably head downtown and walk around and find a place (hopefully Tequilas) to have lunch. Tomorrow we already have tickets for the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad which I booked 2 months ago so that'll take up the whole day. Monday & Tuesday we have a few hiking trails planned out to take advantage of this great weather and scenery here.

If it weren't for the cold winters I would love to live here. The mountains and all the scenery are amazing and I haven't even touched the surface yet. We'll be doing a lot of traveling through CO now and on the way back from SD and over to UT. :D

Have a Great trip Dave. Don't look at your gas receipts it will dishearten an incredible trip you have planned. Stay safe and enjoy :like:
Thanks Greg! When we started planning this the gas prices were only in the upper $2.00 range. But it is what it is and I'm not going to let it spoil our fun. We've both worked to hard to NOT enjoy life and we've been blessed to be able to have this opportunity to do this. This doesn't mean I won't be upset once I'm back home and add them all up. lol :curse:

Great! He's gone, our big toe is off on an adventure. Let's get out the politics talk.
Which way does your Ranger lean?
And there's a deal on 909 micromax nautical treatment. Works much better than that other numbered product.
?I knew there was something I forgot to do. Have someone here keep an eye on you.? ?

Safe travels.

Be aware of your surroundings. Don't just look straight down the road.
Thanks Fig! Thanks for the tip but I always do. Got in this habit at a young age when riding street bikes because no one ever sees you until its to late. Now I'm always aware of what's around me unlike my gf who has tunnel vision when driving.

Plus I always have my friend Sig close by.

Ok but I'm warning you....I don't look as good now in my tight black spandex as I did in the 80's.:surprised:

How's that for selling it!?
