Dumb question. Is the CAT in the same place location for the 2WD and 4WD?
I was wondering when ever I get mine would some type of plate be needed.

Catalytic converter thefts are not a problem in Weld County Colorado.....probably because we encourage folks to walk around armed to the teeth....

Unlike Denver where the leadership thrives on keeping its Citizens in the crosshairs of criminals......

Can't carry in Denver now so I stay away from places I can't defend myself or family.....

These folks are so silly.....why do they think that kid targeted the King Soopers in Boulder? Sadly...what is probably the town/city you would be the least likely to find someone carrying concealed in Colorado?.....Boulder!

You don't hear me talking about this subject much but to be honest.....the way to counter mass shooter events is more folks with permits walking around armed.....IMHO (but the data backs me up on that).

Face it folks.....the police can't be everywhere all the time......

Sorry for the rant.....I'm just tired of hearing how I'm a bad man because I own/carry firearms!!!
I still carry in Denver… all the time.

and to the OP. Our cats are way up on the downpipe that comes off the turbo. I wouldn’t worry.

My factory alarm will go off in a thunder storm, it all depends how you have the sensitivity set. I turn it off when the storm gets close.
Yes it is the perimeter alarm with the optional parts that the dealer don't tell you, you need . They are a plug and play hardness that plugs into the back of the ODB port and it give you remote start/stop with the key fob and a box that has the adjustment on it. Here is the info

Part No: KN1Z19A361A
FORD PERIMETER PLUS VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
That is not a "factory" option.

A "factory " option is installed at the factory, MAP, not at the dealership.

Since when can you not carry in Denver? I do it all the time. Wouldn't go to Denver without one, actually.

You are allowed to carry in Denver - the ordinance that passed into law a week back bans concealed carry in city parks and other city facilities such as government bldgs. There was of course opposition but the measure was passed into city law.

I saw that.

Denver does ban OPEN CARRY I believe. But I personally find open carry to be a little brash, and frankly, quite stupid.

I have no reason to be in a Denver park or government building, ever.

you are correct Denver has banned open carry , but in Boulder you have to have the firearm in a case to open carry.

That's Boulder for ya'.

The only place I worry about any of my vehicles' safety is at work in Longmont. But the criminals there are just junkies looking for easy targets, which our trucks are generally not if we do our part.

Whew - good to know the parks are safe now.
Well beer and wine can be lawfully consumed in Denver City Parks, remember that old adage about guns and alcohol. But as most realize it's those in illegal possession of firearms that cause the majority of criminal issues, so will a ban on concealed carry in city parks matter much ? So should everyone be carrying firearms as one poster seemingly suggested as the solution ?
I got out of Denver to a more rural setting last year as it's a far cry from when I moved there in 79.

Well perhaps Weld County should become part of Texas and as an fyi below are some statistics on auto theft from law enforcement in Greely and Evans - both of which I believe are in Weld County. Factually auto thefts are higher than the state average, despite all the tough guys in Weld county exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

I don't think Denver will be all shook up that some people won't go there because they aren't allowed to carry concealed firearms in the parks and city government buildings.

Locally, Greeley and Evans have seen an identical pattern when it comes to auto theft. The Greeley Police Department reported 569 auto thefts in 2021, up from 263 in 2017.

“As you can see, we’ve seen an even higher increase than the state average – about 116% comparing 2021 and 2017,” said Ian Hunt, the department’s crime analyst.

dtech....So I'm not a tough guy in Weld County.....I'm from Houston Texas and grew up making sure all the doors and windows were locked because of the big city high crime rates in the 70's. Still do even though I live in an ultra low crime community today. No matter where you go there will always be the "other side of the tracks". In reference to Greeley and Evans.....they are the armpit of Weld County and resemble Colfax on a Saturday night too me. I don't expect everyone to have my same attitudes about carry or firearms (that's why have the US Constitution), heck I think Colorado missed the boat on what they require for classroom education before you can be issued a permit.
In Colorado all the class is about is your liability and chances of being arrested for just pulling a concealed weapon. No actual shooting qualification is required. In Texas the class was about conflict resolution and understanding that if you have the opportunity to retreat....you do or risk being held accountable by a grand jury.....plus you had to qualify shooting at 3 close range distances. In my opinion firearms training is absolutely necessary to safely handle, carry, load and discharge a weapon of any kind.
Ranger Pride.... guess the question about the celebrity and the car jacking is this.....are you willing to shoot and kill someone over an inanimate object that is yours? I guess everyone would have to make that decision and unless you already have come to terms with that....make it in a split second.....
I'm not going to do that....I have good insurance and will let the police sort that out, plus that would be mentally life changing for anyone that pulls that trigger!.....now if myself or my family is threatened by someone.....different story! If you haven't noticed on the nightly news there are idiots running around daily causing havoc all over the place....That is why I carry everywhere I can....

Depends on the particular class and instructor whether you actually shoot a gun, in the class I took at a gun range you were required to shoot .

Your post seemed to imply that having more of the populace armed is an effective way of reducing cat thefts - statistics do not bear that out - including those in Weld County.

Of course crimes rates are going to be higher in denser population areas such as cities - a number of people (myself included) have moved to the rural areas , because we can afford to.

Which brings me to a socioeconomic fact - in general, it's the less affluent who suffer the most from increasing crime - cat theft is a good example as these folks often park on streets or other areas where it's easier for thieves . And reports abound about victims supplying law enforcement with the perps vehicle descriptions and plate nos and an investigation is usually not conducted. For the affluent cat theft is not much of an issue .

CO leads the nation in auto theft rates - a sign of the times here.

I did not mean to imply that increased ccw permits lowers cat theft rates....what I did mean was in areas where more folks have ccw permits crime rates overall would be lower. After looking at some real data, that is not always true. Large cities will skew the data, especially in places like Chicago. Now I'm going out on a limb here but I'll bet if you compared Houston to Chicago you might find a big difference. Mainly because many more people would have ccw permits in Houston because of the much more liberal gun policies in Texas vs Illinois. (Liberal meaning better access to firearms and ccw permits).

Interestingly, Chicago/Illinois has some of the toughest gun laws in the US but look at what's going on in Chicago every weekend. They have the equivalent of a mass shooting pretty much every weekend (10-15 shot with 3 or more deaths). One thing is for sure....there are evidently massive amounts of illegal guns on the street in Chicago.

So in the end my take is....areas that are more affluent and also have a well armed citizenry should be lower in crime rates, especially violent crime.

LA/Hollywood is a perfect example......lots of money but these folks are not armed....hence look at the recent uptick in follow home robberies......if you don't have to worry about Buffy having a gun.....he's an easy target...

You are correct dtech....if someone steals my CAT all I need to do is call the insurance company........

Looks like Houston is "winning" at the moment.
