Being a free markets guy, I think dealers should sell any car they have in inventory for whatever they can get.

Last time I looked, cars/trucks are still in the "consumer discretionary" category. :)

Certainly I would not pay that, especially since they appear to be having so many engine issues. For that money you could buy a nice Ranger and do a build like you some of you here and have plenty left over for some nice road trips.

Locally, deals like that dried up in summer 2020. I got my late 2019 Ranger in April 2020. 0% and around 8k off of MSRP, so not too different from you.

I threw in an extended warranty as well as an extended service plan (I forget how many years I get my oil changes covered now with the included plus extended plan I bought) and the Auto Butler detailing service. dealership still made money on me, but on the other hand, I already have a tendency to keep my vehicles for a decade or more and I find value in knowing that those things are already paid for, and that I just have to show up. I had my previous Honda Fit for 13yrs. Wife's Subie is 9yrs old this year. I buy 'em, pay them off, and then drive them for several years after that.
It's so weird that nowadays we'd feel lucky to get to pay MSRP.

We generally operate the same way but have a daughter who just started driving and another who will soon. We're in fleet expansion mode, and for that reason the wife will get something new soon. But not till my Ranger is paid off. I'd never do two car notes at a time.
Trust me I thought about it. lol But with the market changing, higher interest rates and the way the economy is heading I'm not that much of a gambling man right now. If it were this time last year (or earlier) I'd probably order two more and flip them. ?

Funny because your day two reservation would most likely be getting built now. My friends wife has a day two res for a fully loaded Badlands with SAS and it's getting built next Thursday. She got bumped form her original 5/16 date but this one looks like it'll happen finally. There's also been several loaded ones rolling into the dealer where he bought his and on B6G. Pretty darn pathetic it took 22 months to build it while others walked into their dealer back in January this year, ordered one and are already driving it. One I saw was a Wildtrak too not a Base or Big Bend.
A dude at work says his 2 Dr is finally scheduled. Hope he gets it soon. He went Black Diamond I think. Been seeing more 2 doors around here finally, it's about time. Still not at all second guessing myself though. I love this truck!

Absolutely! I blame the consumer for paying these stupid prices. Until they wake up and stop paying them the dealers will continue to mark them up. I don't like it and think it's sleazy but on the other hand I don't blame them for trying to get as much as possible.

I totally agree on the nutty consumer angle. I have a friend who is a kind of high flying guy, pretty successful in business and he is always on the latest hottest car thing. He is that guy who walks in and pays $20K over MSRP for the car everyone wants.

I always just laugh and shake my head, I know soon enough he will lose interest and be onto the next hot thing. My wife loves the guy but can't stand it when he shows up with some hottie 20 years younger. I can't say I think everything he does is crazy. :)

It’s over $83,000 today. Still for sale.
There's a couple on cars.com in the $80K range and they've been there for weeks now too. Now that the Broncos are getting delivered I'm starting to see them every day and sometimes multiple ones per day. They're not as "rare" as the were 6 months ago and with the economy the way it is I don't see many (if anyone) paying these stupid prices for them now.

Clearly someone with more money than sense. But there are folks around here who don’t care. They pay cash and they get what they want.

Sadly, a good number of those folks are NOT paying cash and are instead taking out the 8 year loans.

These are the ones the dealers LOVE to see walking in the door.

Nice Bronco but not worth $74K. It'll be interesting to see how long it sits there now with higher interest rates and a bleak economy. I wish Ford stuck to their word when they said they were going to crack down on dealers adding huge "market adjustments" to them.
Bro these dealerships deserve to go out of business with this crap they're pulling. I "attempted" to get a Bronco before I got my Tremor. The markups with in the 15-30K range out here in S.A. Tx. Trash. I'm not patient enough to order and wait.

Yup and I hope if/when things get back to normal people remember these dealers and stay away from them. I mean it's a darn Bronco not a C8 Vette!

But in their defense if some are dumb enough to pay these prices it's not entirely their fault we're at this point today. I don't think anyone here would oppose to working less and making more so the blame lies on both sides.

A sucker is born every day. If people are stupid enough to pay these prices well let them. Honestly it will just make for a more spectacular implosion of our economy. People trying to live wayyy beyond there means... Oh well can't do anything about these idiots

Some of the Gen-Z friends of my sons are resigned to the thought that they'll never own a home and that inflation will eat up any savings they try to put aside.

They have a Spend It All Now And Get What You Can attitude and think a $700 car payment is unavoidable if you want something nice.

And if things go bad just kick back and collect gov aid.

Just dropped my truck off at dealer for warranty work and they had a bronco badlands out front. Window sticker was $60k, the adm was jacked to $85k. Unbelievable.
