Here’s How Many Ford Vehicles Are Currently Parked and Waiting for Chips

Yeah, I've seen that. I tried to explain to a couple of the big babies what a "long wait" really was, but they just wanted to whine. The Grand Cherokee has been running close to a 6-8 week build for the '22's. If I can make a trade I'm hoping that will stand for the '23 MY. I really hope that the Bronco curse doesn't follow me.

I hope it doesn't either! I know it's frustrating waiting for a build and then waiting again for the shipping but people need to remember we're in really crazy times right now. I've ordered the majority of my F150's in the past and never has anything like this happened. Worst case was I ordered at the end of a model year and had to wait an extra month for the changeover but nothing like what we're experiencing now. Something needs to change here and fast!

From experience I can tell you that many of those sitting have been lost in the mess and parts for them have come in and gone on vehicles currently on the line. Ford has a big problem with internal logistics.

My Lariat was built last August and sat in the lot of shame at MAP waiting for the instrument cluster until the end of October when my tweet to Ford about them shipping vehicles out of order prompted them to track my truck down. It shipped the next day.

My soon to be father-in-law ordered his Bronco in January, it went into production the week of Easter, and is sitting at the dealer today waiting for him to take delivery. Without a doubt, his got parts on it that others sitting out there have been waiting for and will continue to wait for.

It beginning to look like the perfect storm for Ford. And yet you can order a Jeep, and it will still arrive in 8-12 weeks. I'm quite baffled why that is. Stellantis/FCA obviously did something different when the chit hit the fan, but no one knows what that was.

Jeep just temporarily shuttered the Cherokee plant near me again due to not having components to build them.

See this right here is so wrong! Why are all these others sitting waiting for parts yet he has his? Also did he have an early reservation or just walk into a dealer and order in January? If the latter then the system is totally broke and Ford needs to do something about this before they lose more loyal customers. If they just kept their word and built everyone's order according to their reservation timestamp we'd all have ours by now.

What actual harm is being done to the average joe because he needs to wait a while longer to drive the replacement for his 3 year old vehicle?


I understand the wait times on new vehicles these days can be infuriating.. especially with the Bronco.. but really.

This quasi-problem is nothing more than the effects of materialism & consumerism, sadly.

He walked in on a whim in January and ordered. It's actually been a point of contention between us because it bothers me how his experience had gone while I know how bad others have been.

If the wait times for the build and delivery were like they were pre-covid I'd have no problem. But today we're having to wait way to long and that's not an issue for some who are not in a hurry and are just looking to update theirs. But what if your vehicle gets totaled or is older and just has to many problems?

Waiting 5-8 months is just unrealistic for many. Besides we're a society now that wants everything today. I personally think it's a bad thing but unfortunately it's breed into us with Amazon same day shipping and all the other stuff.

No I don't blame him one bit, this is all on Ford for changing the rules. There's so many with first and second day reservations who still don't have their Bronco yet. But people can walk into a dealer, order one and have it in 6 months while we're still waiting?

Yep. That's what prompted me to go after Ford on Twitter - the forum members here who ordered the same trim and package as I did months after me reporting that they had their trucks when mine was still sitting at MAP. And then miraculously they found the part and shipped it all on that same day. I'm certain many of those Broncos sitting there have had needed parts come and go numerous times than ended up on trucks coming down the line that were ordered way later.

Life isn't designed to be ideal. Sacrifices and or compromises go along with breathing.. unfortunately

If an individuals vehicle is so old and such junk that they need to replace it quickly... the US sells 40 million used cars a year. There IS an objectively suitable replacement for them, that same day.

Same thing If they drown their Bronco off the coast of maine... they can easily stop anywhere on their way back to jersey to buy something.


A brand new car is not a necessity in 99% of cases.

I wonder how much of this has to do with large volume dealers having more pull? This is how this whole mess started in the first place. These larger dealers weren't getting many Bronco reservations because their prices were either at msrp or over where Granger and others were selling below msrp and/or invoice. So they got together with Ford and had them change from a reservation timestamp to an allocation system which benefits the larger dealers.

I can see them doing the same with these regular orders. Like you said how did others here get theirs way before you? Then miraculously after you call the parts are there?
