you know if you had done a search here you would have learned that the tailgate is so light a damper, damperer, dampener, uh.....strut, is a complete waste of your money. just between the 2 of us, i bought one too. hope its not more than a :beer::beer::beer: install!

The tailgate is not to heavy f9r me but it's nice that I can pop it and let it glide down.

Hi Phil

Yeah....I bought one more out of curiosity than anything...but came to like it.

Best,

it was one of the first mods i did to my raptor. you ranger people dont realize how good you have it with the way its installed. the f150's had some kind of dumb nutsert thingy on the tailgate part. mine has been loose for a couple years but at least it hasnt come off.

My very favorite part of this thread is that it took a member named Glock Girl to come up with a name that doesn't make the damper sound as wimpy; it's not a damper - it's a strut!

To qualify as a strut though, wouldn't it need to add some more "structure" to the tailgate?
?Hood struts don't add structure to the hood.

No, but they lift and hold it. With this logic, the tailgate damper holds the tailgate, gently letting it down. So, yes... strut. I think they packaging should be changed to reflect the new name.
