Learned to drive using my dad's farm vehicle (1981 Ford F150 w/ 5sp manual trans) The truck was called "the bastard" because it tended to get abused a lot. That was approx 34 yrs ago. Also had 89 F150 with duel gas tanks at age 22. Now 47 yrs old driving the 21 Ranger

Almost 80, there I said it. Drove GMC, and imports until I was over 50 when I bought a 93 F-150, Now I’m loving my RANGER but when I don’t need to tow anymore I will probably be back to a smaller car. Then again the maverick is looking pretty good for an old grumpy guy to get around town in.

I'm 55.
I learned to drive with my Dad's '72 F250.
My first vehicle and truck I owned was an '83 Ranger.
My current truck is a '19 Ranger.

Trucks I've owned in total are:

  • Ford (6),
  • Ram (6),
  • Toyota (2),
  • Isuzu (1).
Love that 1st gen. We bought a brand new '88 - our first. Ours was a standard cab, 2WD but the exact same color.

My age is 64
My first Ford was a 74 Gran Torino Elite that I bought in 1976.
I learned to drive on my old dad's 73 Ford LTD (loved that big block 400) and my grandfather's 64 Ford Ranchero on his farm.
I learned to drive a stick shift on a 57 Chevy Bel Air.
And... I have learned to drive my 2019 Ranger XLT like I stole it, unless I am stuck at speeds under 40, at which time it is driven in Tow mode.

I'm 57 now and the first Ford I ever owned was a '76 (I think) Ford Pinto, it was 1981 and I was 17 then. It was a winter beater back when I had my Z-28 and MA winters were brutal on cars. It got me through the winter then one spring day I was coming out of Bradlees dept store and saw it on fire in the parking lot.
Small world Dave NE & Pintos!

A year younger than you in ‘82 in Southern NH I learned with my ‘73 Pinto which was actually fun to drive even with its massive 96 HP until my sister totaled It. My really fun car after the Pinto was a black & gold ‘76 Mustang Cobra II. Friggin car was fast and surprised many. Current Ranger is below…

Bradlees and Lechmere were the go to stores then. ?

[Edit] ?? Soooo many Pinto’s! ❤❤

Bradlees & Lechmere were in the same strip mall and were the go to stores back then. lol

I was in WMA and went up to Southern NH many times especially for bike week at Laconia. We stayed in Concord,NH for a few years then someone else got his friends cabin right on Lake Winnipesaukee. It was a drive to get to the track but we spent the week there and had a lot of fun. Wears Beach is still a blur. lol I bet you wish you still had that Mustang Scott?

I definitely wish I still had the Mustang, some day when I win Powerball I plan to find one and do a restomod and build it the way it could have been. I spent many summers up in WB and the Laconia area, may, or may not, have had a few “aggressive” drives back. Still to this day the fastest I have never driven was in It. Stuff we do when we are young… good thing we have all matured ?

I’m 69 in the fast lane and quickly approaching 70.

I learned on a 1962 Renault Dauphine, 845 cc engine, 34 HP and a 3 speed manual with a non-syncro 1st gear.

1st Ford was a 1972 Ford Torino 2-dr hardtop (bought new and paid for with saved Burger Chef money). Brown with the Spring Promotional Package. It had a 351 cid engine with a two barrel carb. Dad was paying my insurance and said no to the 4 barrel.

2022 Blue Ranger Lariat w/Tremor package.
