Well , woke up to damn near a foot of snow (AFTER I spent all day yesterday cleaning mine , and now every time ,wifeys vehicle) so off I go at 5:30 am and im hitting 4H ! (Which surprisingly I have not done yet , or the rear locker) making tracks out of the hollow since I am 1st one out ! Damn , really felt solid...boots on the ground , few minutes in and a little test sliding (gotta know where the line IS before you cross it ) and I felt compleatly confident... I doubt she will she much mud , but she will see snow , and seems to thrive in it ... Pleasently surprised , I expected it to do. well, just didn't expect it to feel that comfortable doing it...

That's good to hear and also nice to see you're getting use to the truck now. I was hoping with a little more time behind the wheel you'd come to like it more and see it's a really good truck. Maybe now those couple things that bothered you in the beginning wont so much now.

No , they bother me , Drive is flat out unusable to me , and I have convinced myself that that lugging is whats pushing fuel in the oil on some (absolutely no evidence or research ) so im a tow/haul guy ... But a tune fixes that so no worries... Still mad about the dipstick .. But compleatly happy with everything else... Oh , do you believe that dang truck does NOT have a tailgate damper ? Just found that out yesterday while washing it...that kinda sucks ... .. In 5....4...3..2.......

There’s something about the size and agility of the 5g that inspires confidence while driving in winter conditions. I felt it in my earlier Rangers (all were 4x4s) but there’s something about this one that makes the experience a bit better. I don’t know if it’s the improved braking, the 10-spd tranny, better suspension, stance, cabin height, ergonomics, or just my imagination, but with this truck, winter doesn’t give me much to worry about.

since you now used 4H and put some miles on it in a foot of snow, you've burnt up your 4x4 oil and need to change it out.
its relatively easy to do. remove the 4x4 dipstick and suck it out with a vacuum and just refill it with whatever you have laying around in your garage.
I did have this laying around my garage , and I found a PERFECT place for it...

Disclaimer : this is a joke and please don't take it any other way...

If you're on the stock Hankooks you'll want to upgrade before next winter.

They're garbage.

Try cooking this recipe up next time you get a chance.

1 open area

4 TM button pushes to "sand mode"

1 long push and hold of AdvanceTrak button

1 long push of locker button.

Apply throttle and steering inputs liberally and enjoy.

Skip that part then, no need for a substitute.

Just know that your cookies won't be quite as good as there's no way to disable RSC without sand mode.

These trucks do great in the snow. Late night after work and a blizzard, I helped get 4 cars out of the lot with knee high snow. After everybody was gone it was 2WD mode and a few good rips.
