Anybody try using Forscan to edit or disable the ”Low fuel warning light”? Mine comes on right at the quarter tank mark - grrrrrr!

Trust me, you want it to come on at 1/4(or 50 mile until empty). I played an experiment the other week and found out that with 5ish miles left until E parked on an incline the truck would end up starving itself of fuel.

I've been using the 'add 3/4 of a tank' mod and it works pretty well. :p
That is what I do because those warnings are annoying. Yes yes I know I have 50 miles left to empty..calm down.

I have replaced more Ford fuel pumps than others. As I am a weekend wrencher that is a super scientific measurement...... ... ... But - I wonder if they started using the warnings to keep people from constantly running low on gas and overheating the pump vs. installing a pump that can deal with lower fuel amounts better. As I suspect that is why the pumps I have replaced or help replace died early. Especially the older mustang two stage/speed/whatever pump.

My wife has proven that GMs can handle being run at 1/8 of a tank CONSTANTLY. I don't even know how she manages that. Only putting a few dollars in at a time? Dunno.

I try to fill up just below the half tank mark…it costs to much to fill the tank if I wait much more.
Wait, you do realize the overall cost is the same right?
Assuming the price is the same, if you fill up every week at a 1/2 tank for $30, or every other week when near empty for $60, it's the same overall cost.
You may spend less for each fillup but you are filling up more often.

that's such an odd way of thinking....you use the gas at the same rate and therefore the same cost, you just go to the station twice as often.

i don't like going to get gas more than necessary, my time is valuable to me. i get that thing sputtering on fumes if i can
Agreed.

I'm at the gas station around 7 times a week between work and personal. Yet for some reason everytime we take her car somewhere it needs filled up too. It sure would be nice if either my wife filled her car up or the guy who drives my milktruck during the day would do it just once.

I’m notorious for running out of gas, and it’s rarely in a convenient location. My old Frontier seemed to challenge me in how far I could push it! The Ranger does give me early and frequent notice, so there’s that. But like RP, I want to visit the gas station as little as possible.

I've found that my Ranger follows the same pattern as my last three vehicles - better mpg out of the first half of the tank than the 2nd. Don't know why it is true, but it is. A difference of about 1-1.5 mpg using the Fuelio app (and with my VW, saw it in the Fuelio app and the dash mpg report - they always matched each other).

I went to Frys to fill up, then inside to get a few things. As I was leaving they were raising the price 10 cents. So, yes it does cost you more to wait till your fuel pump is gasping, running hot and dry.
