So, I don’t know if this has been discussed. I built and ordered a 2022 XL STX Spec. Edition. I had to have a Locking Diff so I order the FX4 package because the Diff is no longer a stand alone option. I’m pretty surprised by this.

If I had to guess, it would likely be due to low order numbers as a stand-alone option. FX4 has the selectable terrain modes, in addition to the rear locker. That’s how I would order it, despite the many complaints about the FX4 shock tuning.

This is my SWAG. Ford dropped it as a stand alone so folks that needed it would have to spend more money on the FX4 package. And Warren is the proof. Living the fiasco Ford calls Bronco I've seen that the company couldn't care less about their end customers.

Note: I'll take my tin foil hat off now. :)

I remember when I got my 2020 and insisted on the rear-locker option and the salesman looked at me like I was an alien and exclaimed "I didn't know that was an option."

I chalked it up to a $hitty sales guy: here we are now 2 years later.

Told my Tacoma buddies and they were shocked it was an option as well- apparently to get a rear locker on a Taco you have to go TRD and can only lock the rear diff in 4LO or something?

It's was still available when I ordered my 2022 Ranger as a stand alone.
X-73 Electronic Rear locker. I ordered it on 2022 Scab XLT without FX4 package.
Order on 1/10/2022 and it shows on my Dora that I signed from the dealer.

Only in 4lo and only below 5mph according to my taco owner buddy... what a joke lol.

Picking up my '22 XL on Saturday and I ordered it with the locking diff. Are you basing that off the "builder" website or did a dealer tell you?

Glad my 2021 STX came with it as that was one of my must have items (and 4x4), and I didn't need a fancier trim level.

What is funny is, in my area pretty much all of the Rangers have the locking differential option selected on the dealer lots.

I don't know how Ford's distributor model is setup, so maybe its the Metro Atlanta distributor always selects the locker.

An anecdotal example, my brother is a GM of a car dealership and every single new SUV or truck that they order, he orders with mudflaps.

yep.. i had a taco, trd offroad. 2019. you had to be in 4lo to use the locker and slow. my titan was the same way. i like how the ranger allows it to be used in 4hi and even in 2wd........
