Was quite a project this weekend but got my ARB Summit Bumper and Warn Winch installed!

A couple of items of interest to whomever is contemplating this....

  • It's Heavy! We used a transmission jack in the middle and Jack Stands on each end to get it up and in place. Transmission jack was a lifesaver. Once it was at the right height, we just lifted it right on and mounted it up.
  • If you're going to put a winch on, I suggest doing it all in one setting so you don't have to remove the bumper to install your winch and then put it back on.
  • Winch control box has to be relocated (Sits on top of the bumper on a winch plate as seen in photo)
    • Make sure you either get the control box extension kit from your winch manufacturer or buy cable and lugs that you can build yourself You will need (on the Warn Evo 10s I installed) about 32" of cable for each of the three leads (Yellow, Blue, Green) from the control box to the winch
  • Instructions were decent, not stellar but decent.
  • Look at pictures of one installed so you can check it out during your own install
  • Allow a weekend to get it done, unless you are a speed deamon

All in all, great install and I'm happy with it.

No it does not. BUT... The bumper comes with relocation a kit and detailed instructions on how to relocate the radar and set up the sensors. Bumper is sensor ready and has blanks if you don't have them.

Mr. Taylor! Cool to see your truck here after playing in your Facebook thread last night. Just so you can put a truck to the name...

Reading your notes on the install had me chuckling! The installation was a bi-otch! Especially the winch installation! It took us 12 to 13 hours to get it on! And I was very lucky to be working on the install at a friend's garage with my truck on a lift. We put the bumper on a utility cart and then were able to move the truck up and down to get it lined up and installed.

You are right on about needing an extension harness for the winch control box - something I had no clue about until the day of the install. The instructions on the install of the winch were a little vague, but I appreciated how much they provided in various parts in the winch installation sub kit! Once we realized that I was going to need to extend the wiring to the control box to get my Warn VR EVO 10S installed, I had the idea of just rotating the onto it's back and mounting it with the control box in the void behind the bumper, in front of the intercooler. It fit with plenty of room!

Your rig looks GREAT! Yes, install was a pain but worth it in the long run. I still have a couple things I have to do... One is to tap in to the Signal and Indicator lights which I was to beat to try to figure out. If you have a trick on how you did that, that would be great!

Great job, OP! I didn’t realize I had wrong instructions for my smittybilt winch when I did mine, so the winch is still in my garage. Not looking forward to the uninstall and reinstall…

I just ended up wiring mine up as clearance lights. I may go back and wire then as turn signals at a future date.

Anyone figure out to actually use all the LEDs in the otherwise pointless fog lights?

Do guards like that affect gas mileage much? Looks good. Also looks pretty heavy duty.

It’s a fair amount of weight. I am getting between 25 and 22 MPG depending on conditions. The level was the biggest thing that hurt my MPG.

Ahhhhhhh Those fogs! I am annoyed by that too. It's insane to me that only one LED on the whole board of LEDs lights up. I wrote off to ARB about it, and they sent me a replacement set of LED fogs. I unplugged one of the ones on my truck and plugged in one of the replacements, and it worked exactly the same, only illuminating one LED on the board. One of these days I'm going to put 12v power right to one of my now spare LED fog lights and see if it illuminates full when powered directly of 12V and not off the truck's CANBUS.
