So decided to try out the Rust-oleum peel coat on the fender vents to get rid of the silver xlt

after applying the 2nd coat i noticed the letters started wrinkling in a weird way. So. Figured through on a good 3rd coat and then peel it off after drying and start over no biggy

apparently the peeling was the silver factory finish coming off and when i removed the peel coat the factory finish was gone

so good news is i wanted black letters and i got them. Bad news is no going back.

Not sure if any one with plastidip has had the same issue but glad i didnt try this on any other surfaces

That's funny. I'm gonna try removing mine with some gorilla tape then! I was thinking of painting mine also, but if I can remove them, even better.
Lets us know if it works, got some gorilla tape at home.

I'm still ponder if I want to pull the black stickers off the A pillars and hope that mine has pain under it.

If the tape doenst work the peel coat stuff is $8 at autozone. I would recommend the solid non metallic though. The graphite left little metal flake every where but to be fair i didnt wait the full 6 hour cure time

I was about to order paint matched pillars for my crew cab, until I stumbled upon this thread! Where they difficult to remove?

No, not at all. It's a thick vinyl. If you use a heat gun or even a hair dryer on low heat, start with a corner and just slowly peel off. You'll see where at the top it kind of wraps over the top edge...grab a corner and pull off at a 90 degree angle. Even if it tears, just take an edge and resume pulling.
Where the vinyl goes under the rubber window molding, it's only about 1/8 inch, and should pull right out from under the rubber.
Any residue can be removed with a bit of alcohol.

That's good news! I dislike how cheap this looks between the doors. I wonder how it'll look with those pieces removed on my CC?

I'm probably also going to remove my vent visors, as I bought them in Matte Black to go with the pillars, but I honestly do not like them now...

Looking at the pics of mine closer now, I'm unsure if it'll look right with those removed? What about the window weatherstripping? Looks like it's part of the pillar trim?

It shouldn't be...vinyl runs just underneath the weather stripping...kind of like it is a "flap" over the vinyl...mine peeled right out from under the stripping...stripping is actually part of the entire window channel that is pressed into the door window frame.
Remember...once you start to remove, there's no going back. Vinyl will stretch and lose the adhesive...can't be re-attached.

I'll check it out later, when it warms up from the blizzard that hit north Alabama last night!
