Yeah that is the Ford plan and all, I just don't like it. Ranchero would have been way better suited for the Mav I think. Good call. What you guys are missing with the Mach E is that Ford is moving towards Mustang and Bronco being their own brand.
Following their logic, the Maverick should've been called the Bronco Sport Truck, seeing how it's based on the same platform. I, however feel it should've been called the "Ranchero," but I can understand that's probably a no-no now.
But yes, their marketing teams are all over the place.
Ohh and as a former FiST owner, I'd be soo down for a FiFX-4. As long as it was similar to this...

I'd also accept this...

In Fiesta size.
But neither will ever happen.
Best handling car from the factory I've ever had. The lift off oversteer was spectacular! Left many a dude saying "isn't this FWD?"Yeah that is the Ford plan and all, I just don't like it. Ranchero would have been way better suited for the Mav I think. Good call.
Man, I always liked the Fiesta ST and still kinda want one. That FX4/Tremor on a rally spec one would have been so cool. I used to drive a Festiva as a beater commuter car so that might be why I want a FiST lol
Let me play devil's advocate here. What do you need a bed for if you're off-roading? Over landing...Sure, but an SUV can do most of that as well.Let’s just lay it out there. The maverick is a crossover with a bed… it’s not a truck and will never amount to much offroad unless we are talking about driving on a dirt road. Customers are going to get fooled into thinking they bought some type of off road performance vehicle.

A pick up bed is for carrying large items, equipment, wood etc. You dont even need 4wd to still own a truck and do all those things.
The Maverick is a truck...a smaller truck, but still a truck. Sure it's not going to be rock crawling, but with awd it will fare well on snow and ice. Plus it has the bed for carrying large items, equipment and wood.
I agree with you here. Ford is trying to ride the coat tails of their best sellers but that will just bring confusion to the market and could actually loose them sales in the long run but may give them a spike at first. Could work for them too though if the vehicles are actually great and worthy of the name plate.all good points from folks here. bottom line for me is that if ford tarnishes the Mustang name plate or the reputation of ford "trucks" they will be injuring the ford biz future. Mustang and ford trucks have been strongholds in the market for longer than many of us have been alive. They almost killed off the mustang a couple of times, people threw a fit. mcoa and other groups woke ford up. last minute ford realized they peed the bed and gave us the 1994 Mustang as a band aid. then renamed the "mustang" they had planned to sell that would have changed the future of the name plate to a front drive eco hipster the "probe" ha. imagine all those sales over the mustang from 94 on. they could have lost that to competitors. if they get the public feeling that ford trucks are weak or meek and these upgrades like fx4 and tremor are sorta just sticker packages, they will buy other brands. i will not argue that the maverick and mach e have a place in the market. they do. they are sensible vehicles that will serve some people well in average situations if that is what they are looking for great. however, not many want a wheeled one size fits most. I didnt need most of the trucks and cars ive had, i wanted them. minivans sold on needing one, but a lot of those would be minivan buyers are now driving crew cab trucks and suvs. simply since they still dont want a damn mini van. want pushes sales. ive bought cars since they were fun, cool or even just sexy. emasculating the name plates kills that. takes away the want. how many jeep rubicons and mojave pavement pansy cruisers do yall see? i see tons here! the starbucks / mall crawlers are at every stop sign. most of them have never seen a unpaved road. but the drivers wanted that jeep image. they are decked out with all sorts of "upgrades" and expensive options unused but financed. $. that was a word vomit to say ford needs to think over image and name plates a lot longer as they are stepping near shaky grounds. mexico chevy nova?? how many burly straight guys do we see in cars with name plates like fit, smart or prius. image and labels matter more than they should to sales. sour the name plates and folks will spend dollars elsewhere.
The FiST was a lot of fun. I traded mine for my Ranger. If I could have afforded to keep both at the time I would have.Best handling car from the factory I've ever had. The lift off oversteer was spectacular! Left many a dude saying "isn't this FWD?"
If you can find a non clapped out example when shit gets to normal, do it!
