I have had my Nitto Ridge Grapplers for about 20,000 miles. Great off road tire. I mean really get the job done. I have also learned that that off road performance comes at a cost. Lack of on road performance and longevity seem to be rearing its head. I drive way more highway miles than dirt. The traction on dry pavement is not the best. The tires will break loose with moderate skinny pedal application. Mind you I do have a very aggressive 93 octane tune and high flow cat. Visually I have noticed a lot of cupping of the tires. Front and rear. I keep them rotated.

I also drive 75-80 mph all of the time. I mean I drive the maximum posted speed limit. Yep, that's what I mean.
The truck has 24,000 miles on it so I don't think the factory suspension is the cause.

Could sustained higher speeds cause this? I will drive for a 2-3 hour road trip doing 75+ mph most of the way. I don't have any vibration in the steering wheel or any other noticeable issues.

Tire pressure is adjusted properly also. I suppose I should get them balanced to see if that is the cause. Although rotated, not always balanced.

Has anyone else put over 10,000 miles on their Nitto RG and if so, how have they held up?

I have 17,000 on mine and they still look great. I don't do a lot of highway driving as most of my customers are close by in town. But when I'm on the highway I'm usually at 75 mph and have been know to hit triple digits every once in a while. I rotate them every 5,000-6,000 miles and they're at 32 psi cold.

Nitto is the redheaded bastard stepchild of Toyo. I had Nitto on my F150, worked out for a little over 20k miles the became unbearable… installed Toyos worked great for 55k miles on and off-road. Installed another set same results, installed another set right before giving it to my granddaughter in May.

They sing a little at high speed but performance vs wear is spot on for both worlds.

I find a set of highway tires might be economical. Lazy math but let’s say you found a spare set of wheels and tires from the many people off loading their stock configurations for $500-800. Not only will you have decent highway performance but you won’t eat up your expensive $200+ per tire off-road set. $800-1200 every 20-40k miles with decreased off-road performance due to smoothing from highway and decreased highway performance? Or $1300-2000 every 90k+ miles? Now you have aggressive treading for those occasional off-road trips(which will last you the lifetime of your off-road excursions, especially with DT tire insurance(no questions asked replacement)) and highway tires with less aggressive treading you can run down to 60k+ miles with quieter performance and better handling.

I left the wide range of possible $$$ amount as you can find many good deals, myself 11k miles on hankooks + sport machined rims for $385(tpms $120 + 60 install so realistically $575) this is much lower than the “low” end. I just like to stay realistic and not massage the numbers due to a perhaps lucky find. But who knows, you may luck out as many don’t see the wealth of tires and wheels in this forum/marketplace maybe even with TPMS included. Also, pro tip. If you bought tires with tire insurance from discount tire they will swap your wheel/tire setup for free. At least my local one does, could vary.

Just like the previous poster said, start watching OfferUp and CraigsList for take offs. You never know what you will find. I have a Tacoma and I was looking for the 17” Toyota black wheels. I was planning to mount All-terrain tires on them. Found a set of take-offs from a 2020 Tacoma. Black Toyota wheels with Falken Wildpeak A/T3’s with @ 1000 miles on them for $600. Tires and wheels in excellent condition. If they would have been the stock Goodyears on same Yota wheels, they would have been $400-$500 for the set.
