Mileage When Ordered Truck Arrived

Didn't order mine but bought it off the lot with 12 miles on the clock. Paid for bed liner and when I took it back to have it applied by appointment I got it back with 60 more miles on it. The dealer said it was driven to the bed liner shop and back but then told me that another of their lots that was a block away could also have done it. Wasn't happy about that but all I got for my displeasure was a blank look.

One thing I was told is that there are two rail yards - one at the plant and one at Woodhaven. Normally, they load up vehicles on transporters to take them to Woodhaven, but I was told sometimes if they have a shortage of transporters they might drive them to Woodhaven, which is about 10 miles away.

You may be right Rob. I live between the plant and Woodhaven, and occasionally see groups of new Rangers driving down King road headed towards Woodhaven. That trip alone will put about 25 miles on the trucks that go there for transportation.

I was told it was only about 10 miles, but I never looked into it. I was wondering why my truck had 23 miles on it when I got it when it literally didn't go anywhere after it arrived at the dealer. This makes a lot more sense now because I know it departed from Woodhaven.

That would be a plus! Trying to find out if every vehicle is tested at the factory or only certain selected ones?

Paul, with those miles I expect you were one of the lucky ones to have your truck pulled, and ran around the track for a quality check.

I can't speak for MTP but at KTP vehicles all go through Roll Test and a small test track, some are selected for a test drive. There is a team of people that get that job. Also some manager level folks will drive a production vehicle home each day. Part of that deal is that they fill out a quality evaluation on that vehicle each time.

I think it's about 10 miles from MAP to a big shipping yard in New Boston, but the Woodhaven yard is farther from the plant.

I would agree, it was almost certainly a random test, and that is a good thing to luck into. It is one more pair of eyes making sure every thing is perfect.

As for documentation, that card was with all my paperwork when I purchased. Maybe some dealers don't pass it along? I would think they should, but ?????

I bought mine from dealer stock It had 32 miles on it before I took it for a 15 mile test drive. Loved it so much I went back inside and bought it!

Did not order mine.
Came form a dealership 60 miles away, so it had quite a few miles on it.
They told me they were going to drive it, so all good.

38 miles! They said it came that way. I call BS. They probably let customers test drive it while I was away. Picked it up a few days after arrival. I was on a road trip in my DD. I special ordered my truck.

It seems like from the rest of the responses 38 is within reason, especially if it had to go to the other railyard. If mine ever shows, I'll compare notes.

Like a few others have said, I didn’t order mine, but it was in transit to the dealer when I bought it. 9 miles.

My 2010 Ford Fusion had 3 when I ordered it. 2017 Honda Accord had 4 and it was in stock at dealer at the time. Ranger had 38 miles when it was in stock at dealer.
