I sort of wish DPMS still manufactured the LR-308.

Sure it was a DPMS, but it was a solid affordable 308 with a 24" bull barrel.

I know 6.5 is slowly pushing 308 to the wayside, but for nostalgia sake I'd love to own one again. I am assuming any left floating around now a days are jacked in price right now.

Circa about 12 years ago in an exercise in muscle capability. Thing was a porker for sure. You'd get about one accurate shot standing/unsupported then you might as well be trying to steady a bucket of water with your arms stretched out lol

Before Luth sold DPMS, those .308’s were hammers! Check out Luth-AR and they may have something built like those previously were.
As for .308 vs 6.5 …. I have two .308 ARs and one 6.5 AR and the 6.5 has a definite advantage for anything beyond 800 yards. Ive hit steel standing/offhand with my 6.5 at 1000+, but beyond 750ish the .308 starts to lose out big time.

I've got a really big itch now a days to build another MK12 Mod0 SPR clone(ish), but in 308.

PRI makes the parts. I remember the price tag on my 556 version, ugh... I'll have to wait on a windfall of money for that itch to get scratched.

I just really really like the way the SPR's look. Most sexy AR build to me. Would be kind of neat if you could build a 300 winmag AR with PRI parts. lol

Check out the LaRue OBR in .308. Similar configuration, more rigid barrel mounting and handguard attachment method. Mine is a decade old and still one of the most accurate rifles I’ve ever shot.

Another to look at would be the LMT MRP in .308 with a true monolithic upper/handguard and quick change barrels.

KelTec toys. They’re obscure and different, but a lot of fun if you’re looking for something recreational for Range day.

I have a Sub-200 in 9 mm it is fun but kinda hard for me to sight with the height of the sights compared to the stock.
The rotating optic mount is even higher….. definitely something where you get a “chinweld” instead of a cheekweld! Haha

You’d be surprised how many automotive engineers end up at 2A companies. A friend of mine worked at Honda on the Ridgeline and now works for an optics company.
Hell, if I worked on the Ridgeline I would of been ecstatic to work for an optics company instead :giggle: Just kidding, but never thought automotive and optics have such parallels that it happens more often than we think.

I'm surprised he admitted to working on the Ridgeline

Just picked up a Mossberg Shockwave 14” to go with my ATI Omni Hybrid Pistol. The smaller package makes it perfect for when I go dispersed camping.
