so how do I deal with this one? I paid for the vehicle security system ford preimeter plus, $207.61, plus 68.50 for install, and 17.95 tax, it was shipped to my dealer, now the dealer says "i can't install that for $68.50. Plus teh parts guy's slip only shows the part price, not the install fee I paid. My receipt is the email ford sent me to let me know my order went through.

I have never heard of prepaying Ford for an accessory install. Where did you buy it

When I've bought accessories from Ford online (accessories.ford.com), there is a checkbox to add the install price to your cart (you can only do this if you've chosen your local dealer on the website). I assume this is what OP is talking about. I haven't done it, but I have seen the checkbox (I chose to install the accessory myself).

I would have thought the price listed would be supplied by the dealership, but maybe not...

No way. Either you got scammed with your purchase or you haven't provided all the details in earnest. No way some website would pre-charge you for labor costs at (insert dealer name) unless you perhaps bought it directly from the dealer. Every dealer has their own labor rates that vary widely based on many factors, like location. Tell us where you purchased it from that also charged for a fixed labor/install fee? If you truly did purchase with a promised install fee then you should go back to the seller and ask them to recommend an installer that will honor thier pre-charged labor fee. Otherwise, I seriously doubt things are and happened exactly as you claim.

*edit* If the OP indeed did purchase the part from the ford website, selected thier dealer, and paid for installation at time of purchase, then you should contact ford customer care and send them invoice/proof and demand that the issue be resolved.

Wow y'all jumping on OP for no reason. Installation can be prepaid on the Ford Accessories website, see above.

Again, I don't know where these prices come from (the dealership or Ford), but I would expect the price to be honored.

Either way I would call Ford and get this resolved.

Sounds like he selected labor for one dealer and went to a different dealer?

They all have different rates.

Ford shipped the part to the dealer. He went to the dealer where they shipped it. Did you read the post? Why are you all so quick to assume OP did something wrong?

I purchased some mud guards for my Explorer on ford accessories site back in 2016 and pre-paid for dealer install. You actually select the dealer when you order. The dealer I took it to told me he didn't realize you could prepay for install on the site until I showed him. Had to have manager approve it and they honored it. I imagine they had to confirm Ford would compensate them somehow?

I bought the molded OEM mud flaps for my 2021 Ranger on the Ford accessories website too and selected the dealer where I wanted them shipped and installed. Paid for all on line. Dealer got flaps and installed no problem.

I got it straightened out with the dealer, but some of you are getting out of hand here.
I now realize I did not post https://accessories.ford.com/ on the original post, so I guess I am a "boomer" (but only by a couple days) but I "assumed" everyone else here knew about this website. (in fact I learned about this part I bought here on this site). its a real website, hosted by non other than Ford. Mike posted a picture. Exactly what I did. thanks Mike. I guess I come across as an idiot here.

It's Wednesday, and we're all jumpy about the weekend coming up and whether or not we're going to be ordering that new Ford Splash... ;)

Because they are just trying to up their forum post count. Details don’t matter, just post stuff. ?

Hell, I am excited about picking mine up. I have to take it back the following week for the line-x but at least I can install my other accessories I have so far this weekend and get a coat of wax on it.
Oh, and that 6 mile trip to the boat launch at least once next weekend :)
