My brakes were pulsing on my 2019 Ranger, I went in to for 3 weeks ago to have them checked and they confirmed that yes indeed they were junk. I said great, its under warranty still so fix them, they said they cant because rotors for this truck are on back order and they have no idea when they will be available. I contacted other dealers parts departments and asked if they had any thinking the dealer was bullshitting me but no, they were indeed correct. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Metal shortage?

I guess since it's under warranty, you can't just go into any auto part stores and pick up some rotors?

exactly, I offered to do just that and they said they could but the parts would not be covered by my warranty anymore.

Can't figure why a dealer would want to BS you about a gravy brake job for them.

i have had issues with the dealership before, they called it a "miscommunication" on a previous repair, so i am a little reluctant to take their word.

There has to be a set, maybe here in the states.
I would approach them and as a warranty item that is also of a safety concern, tell them you don't feel safe driving the truck for an extended period.....either find a set of rotors or give me a loaner till my truck is safe to drive.
It is not on you to find warranty parts, it is on the dealer/Ford.
A busted switch or a radio problem is one thing, but brakes are a major safety item.
For giggles I tried rear rotors at 4 Ford dealers in my surrounding area, via their web sites, and all state their on back order.

When I had a warranty issue with one of my vehicles a few years back with no parts availability, the dealer was able to get Ford to authorize temporary use of aftermarket parts to get the vehicle back on the road. Then, when the Ford parts were available, they changed them out again.

If your situation is really bad, you may try opening a case with Ford corporate for assistance.

Hmm, where are you in Ontario? I might want to avoid that dealership too.

Tell them to order the new rotors, then turn the old ones just to use until the new rotors AND the new pads are delivered.

if you read the warranties documentation, this is actually written in there, so it is an alternative.
Dang it!, Ranger Pride made me actually read the complete warranty on my truck. I always read the Owner's Manual but just skim over the warranty.

I found on page 9 the following:
"When making warranty repairs on your
vehicle, the dealer will use Ford or Motorcraft parts or remanufactured
or other parts that are authorized by Ford, at the discretion of Ford or
the Ford dealership."

So, I would do as suggested by alcohenusa and have your dealer use whatever parts from whatever location to make you whole again.

What happens in these situations, when you can't get a part you need to drive your truck? Do they give you a loaner or just tell you to pound sand till it comes in?

I worry about these shortages shelving my only vehicle.
I am at one month in a rental car due to my 2021 Lariat with 7000 miles in the shop. Waiting on rear axle to replace the defective one. Was told today the delay on axle is due to approval of redesign. Maybe true, maybe not. I just know there are no axles at Ford with a ETA yet at day 30 and counting.

Good evening. I am new to site and I am having similar issues. I have a busted drivers side cv axle on my 2019 Lariat FX4. Been in a loaner for almost two weeks because axle is on back order. Said maybe end of September. I am also having the issue in another thread about the blend door actuator. Blows warmer air on drivers side than passenger. At least the truck is paid for and I’m not paying monthly for a vehicle parked at the dealership.

I had heard as of recent most brake rotors are made in China, could be a supply chain issue coming from over there?
