Picked up a pretty heavily used KB Voodoo bed rack made for a 3rd gen Tacoma today for a decent price. Going to get to modifying. Basically as it sits, it's 1 and 1/16 too wide to fit in between my bed rails. Plan is to cut the vertical faces off the existing brackets and use clamps like these to keep it steady. I do have access to a welder, though, so if I can fabricate a bracket myself I may go that route instead.

Here's a mock up

And I'm off by this much on both sides.

Measure it up and see if you can move in the supports moving both sides in by one hole spacing. So you would add 2 holes . Overhang on upper cross member would be trimmed off.

Haha - you’re a smart guy Rick! We seem to be on the same track - looks doable.

I was busy drawing that up while you were posting - too funny.

Yup, that’s what I’m seeing. Looks like it’s pretty easy to do. One tip with heavy gauge sheet metal. Don’t drill large holes like that. They always come out like crap and out of round. Go like a 1/4 “ then open it up with a taper sizer.
