It's rather vague , but if it's 45w on either 12 or 120, then it's fine. At 120v, that's about 1/3 amp, give or take, but might be much higher on start up.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
As Jesse mentioned, I will be using a pure sine wave inverter for maximum compatibility. I have a few in mind but will need to think about mounting position. I may end up putting the 120v receptacle next to the usb ports up front and will also need to mount an on/off switch as the inverters are power hogs.
Here is one I can recommend 100%, Victron is a top brand in the Inverter world, and I have installed these in my MH (3KW) as well as in the ones of friends, and they are top of the line. Here is a 500 watt one I use for portable power for hand tools in the field with a 50AH lithium battery.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about electricity, but this surprises me! I ran a portable refrigerator in my Ranger for a round trip from Georgia to New Jersey and back, and it worked perfect for me! I guess I need to check out how much power that fridge is drawing?

Based on those specs you are totally fine. 45w is 45w, regardless of voltage. So if you plug that into the Ranger's 110VAC outlet it'll only draw 45/110 Amps, though that will not be as efficient as running it directly on 12VDC. The reason is that your vehicle has a native nominal 13.8VDC system (12-14.7VDC typical, depending on load, battery, if the vehicle is running or not, and battery state). So, if the fridge has two power regulators, one DC and one AC, running it on what your vehicle puts out from the battery will use the least power from your vehicle, because the Rangers inverter that goes from your vehicles DC to AC will have some loss involved, requiring more power from your battery than is being supplied out the 110VAC outlet. For example, if the fridge is drawing 45W from the 110VAC outlet, that inverter will need more than 45W from your vehicles 12VDC battery, how much depends on how efficient that inverter is. Of course, that is just the math of it and a lot also depends on the efficiency of the appliances built in voltage regulator/converters. In any case, I'd just plug that thing into a DC outlet if you can, it makes the most sense.

To your point. Cooler is designed to run on DC voltage and comes with a transformer to run it off AC. Most efficient way to run it is from any DC source if possible.

I figured that, but there is no 12v outlet in the back seat. Damn you Ford!
