Maybe someone can chime in. I recently bought a 2020 Lariat crew cab Previous owner ordered tech package with no steps. I like the look of the factory steps. I measured and they are a bit over 4".I am considering the Isteps either 4"or the 5". Is it a optical illusion that the Isteps have brackets that push them way out?
My wife is short and really needs steps for entry/exit. I think the 5" maybe more functional but the 4" maybe a bit more tucked and look better. Are the brackets for Isteps way long and push them out? Thanks for the help.

Tremor steps would probably work for you nicely. Or you could go all out and do motorized ones that light

John I have the factory steps and while I didn't want them they were already on the truck. My gf is 5' nothing so for her they really help getting into the truck. I don't know anything about the iSteps but I think the factory ones would work fine. I know there's no a lot of inventory out there but maybe a local dealer has a Ranger with the factory ones on there and she could try them out?

Thanks Yes we drove a few XL and XLT . We were going to purchase new. This Lariat came up used for a equal price to a new XL. We opted for the equiped Lariat minus the steps lol The factory steps are actully functional. The after market brackets look a bit wide? At 5' my wife struggles with a handicap which presents a bit of a extra problem too. Funny we were married in 1987 and our first stop after the wedding was to buy our new 1987 Ranger XLT 6 Cylinder Super Cab . A whopping 12,800 dollars after haggling.
This Ranger was a easy sell to her---- Nostaligic lol

I'm really curious... post up a link to the Isteps you are referring to. I searched and am finding nothing online.

The thing I find strange about the dealer installed steps is that you can look through the gap between the body and the step. Reminds me of picnic table seats.

Toyota four runners type steps that appear to be a part of the truck, by design, look much better, IMO.

If you didn't see my other post here's what the factory ones look like. My gf has a bad knee and she has no problem getting in or out with these.

Nfab Podiums. Not really my choice, but the wife is 5' and likes where they are height-wise.

Edit: I see now you said "tucked option", so these probably aren't what you're looking for.

Westin HDX Drop Steps. Come in choice of stainless or plain steel. They look exactly the same, but the SS model comes with bright finish step plates, and Steel comes with Black step plates. They are very solid. Bolted on to existing threaded holes with minimum hassle. Cost around $500 - $600, depending if you want stainless or not ($100 diff).

Wife is less than 5' tall and she says they are perfect. They tuck in pretty nice, and only the smallest gap visible between bars and bodywork. See below for some photos of them installed on my truck. I didn't take any with the door open.

I’m a big fan of the factory steps. They’re easy to stand on for entry, plus when I’m washing the top of the truck I can scoot from front to back on them. And I think they look good.

Hi Rob,

My wife and I are also fans of the factory step bar. Wife is 5' 1" and a long trunk so very short legs... She loves the Ranger OEM step bar.

Okay...a back story....When my boss, Tom J and I were sitting in a meeting to see what we could do with Ranger, we embarked on a program that would be called Ranger Edge. It was an idea to use the Ranger 4x4 torsion bar front suspension frame, but as a 4x2. The only problem was the number 3 frame crossmember was way too close to the 4x2 driveshaft. So we had the frame supervisor put a Wow in the crossmember. Voila! We had a 4x2 that had the stance of a 4x4. To add to the package we added a step bar....Now the problems occured...Every one urinated on the step bar as it was too low, too high...not outboard enough or not inboard enough. So Tom and I sat down and said F*uck it....We will just choose and launch the Edge at Edison. Enter the plant manager... Another round of do not build due to the step bar...Why...none of us had any experience with Step bars. Again, Tom and I said F it and we started production while the Plant Manager tried her best to scuttle the vehicle...she lost and the Edge became a very popular offering. 4x4 tires on 4x2 wheels and stance of a 4x5 but a 4x2.

Launch...we were at the tire install and hear the right side tire installer Yell his fool head off and stopped the line. Wrong wheels for a torsion bar frame... Foreman forgot to tell him "heads up". Minor glitch but still was a reality check of how line workers view a vehicle build...they key off certain items of a vehicle...not the build sheet on the vehicle and use parts accordingly to their station on the line...You change a 4x2 to a 4x4 frame...talk about line stoppages until the workers get the word. I like this as it shows the workers did care how they build the vehicle and were not afraid to stop the line when something seemed incorrect....

One man's opinion but for looks, the thinner the better. My build came with the 4" steps and while I've already received a couple of shin burgers , my midsize wife swears by them.
They're all new to me so you should see me do that awkward dance move when I can't figure which foot to bring up first when I'm getting in. Let's call it the truck step, two step!
