Drop In Ford Bed Liner vs Toff Liner

I'm debating between using my Ford Points to get the drop in liner, or having the dealer spray in their Toff Liner.

Anyone heard of Toff Liner or have it done? The Ford Bedliner is $300 and the Toff Liner is $400.

I've had line-x on a previous truck. This one has the factory spray in liner. I much prefer the spray in over the drop in.

What is the primary use of the bed of your truck?

I had a 17 year run with our last truck ('02 Tacoma) and it had a factory drop in bed liner.

For the last 18 months we've had the Ford ToughBed that's applied at the factory on our 2019 Ranger.

There's many a time in that 18 months that I've missed the drop in liner. When you load something in a truck with a spray in bedliner, and that something is in a cardboard box and you slide it, the bed liner rips of the cardboard into shreds. Sure that means it's holding it in place, but I always, and I mean always, secure the load with ratchet straps. I don't need the rough bed liner surface to "secure a load".

Lets say you're hauling mulch or dirt. Piece of cake with the bedliner. Your shovel / fork is hitting the bedliner when you're unloading the mulch. and when you're done it's super easy to sweep the mulch all out of the drop in bedliner. Not true with spray in bedliner. Your metal shovel or mulch fork is rubbing right on the sprayed in bedliner, and it shows. For cleanup it takes a hose or pressure washer to clean up the spray in liner. A big deal, no. A hassle, I think so. Oh, and be sure not to plug up the drains in the front of the bed either.

If your hauling finished lumber, and drag it across the spray in liner, it scars the wood. Not true with a drop in liner.

Folks do say though that Ford drop in bedliners wear the paint off the bed. My Toyota drop in liner didn't do that.

I do like the ease of access to the tie down hooks in the spray lined bed. You have to access the bed tie downs through holes in a drop in liner... kind of a hassle. And the holes on a Ford drop in bed liner are down low, and if you don't keep the covers on those holes, you'll get debris under the bedliner... not good.

Bloody knuckles is another disadvantage of the spray in liner... but a pair of gloves solves that issue.

Opinions vary... but that's been my real world experiences.

I think spray in will give you the best value over drop in over time. I've not heard of Toff Liner myself. I had Line-X done on mine as part of the deal when I bought my truck. It has a lifetime guarantee and they did a great job. I see you live in Texas so you might want to make sure if you get a spray in that they can also offer UV protection. It's usually an add on but if your truck is going to be in the sun a lot without a bed cover it is probably worth it.

Personal opinion, I'd always go with a spray-in liner vs drop-in.

I've used Toff for several trucks - mainly because the shop I liked used Toff. I'm no longer in that area but noted that our local Ford dealer used a shop that sprayed Toff, so that's what I went with for my Ranger. I don't have specific data or evidence, but my gut opinion is that Toff may not be as durable as Line-X. But it suits my needs.

In the end, I used my Ford points and got the drop in as it was "too cheap" not to. The dealer had one in their warehouse that was the old part number (AA vs AB) and sold it to me $50 off list. With my Ford points it was under $100 bucks.

The parts counter guy and me installed it when I picked it up in like 30 seconds. Just had to put the tailgate on when I got home.
