So I have a 2019 Ranger STX (that I love even more than my past 1996 Jeep Cherokee, and 2 Tacoma Double Cabs - a 2002 and a 2013). Can't say enough good about the new Ranger (except for the radio software/ipod interface and lack of bed tie-downs and built in cross member pockets - stupid, stupid, stupid but don't get me started).

I discovered that my XL STX (which oddly but happily has the 360 Copilot Package which inludes an upgraded color dash info window as well) seems to have an upgraded wiring harness that includes 8 wires to the side mirrors (maybe all Rangers have this harness - who knows). I'm wondering if I were to find and install power folding/lane warning system mirrors along with the dash switch would the folding option then work? The dash switch has a fixed folding button and I have yet to confirm how many tabs that harness plug has but if the door/mirror plugs have the necessary wires then I'm pretty sure the dash switch plug would as well).

If anyone out there has expertise in this matter I would love to hear from them.

Finally, If my setup would accept the power folding option could i just install the motors in my mirrors rather than replacing the mirrors outright (I'm pretty handy and could handle the work if in fact it could be done).

Looking forward to any responses.

Thanks,
Jim D.

Hey Jim it may be possible.
From your dash picture it looks like you already have power mirrors - Correct? If yes read on!
So if the wires are there for Power folding at the mirror that could be an easy add. You could add if they are not. See my thread How to add Lariat heated mirrors to an XLT. I added the wires to the connector to add heat, turns and puddles. From the wiring diagram its a direct hook up to the switch, no BCM etc. so again not too bad.
Pop off the tweeter covers and the mirror connector is right there.
The attached pdf hsd sll the mirror wiring diagrams for you.
Adding BLIS again needs the wires at the mirror, but you also need BLIS taillights and I have read somewhere that they are CRAZY expensive.
Good luck and feel free to PM me with questions.

Thanks for the quick reply and harness diagrams. I do have power mirror glass and my truck, though stripped, has the 360 copilot so i do have the BLIS. I did pull off one speaker and counted 8 wires in the dash side plug and only 5 in the mirror but with your diagrams i can confirm what the 3 other wires are for - hopefully for the power folding option.

i do have two other questions. i too have searched for used mirrors and people are charging as much as new $350+. Brock makes power folding mirror sets for about $180 a pair new with the folding motor/mechanism so i'm considering (if i don't come across some BLIS folding mirrors first) buying the new pair and surgically exchanging either the BLIS glass or the folding motors. do you think that is possible?

2nd, i don't have the turn/puddle/heat and i'm not sure i need all that but when and how does the heat get activated? is it off the front or rear defrosters?

thanks again,
jim d.

8 wires is what I had - Ford added a ground wire that was not in the wiring diagrams.
Thge folding switch is a round one right above the power mirror controls, it looks like your trim has a round something there - a plug? a switch that does nothing?

The Ford glass aint cheap! and no guarantee it would fit after market mirrors. You can get mirrors new for under $300. It looks like the junk yards are really proud of their mirrors right now and are asking $300 and up! You could keep an eye out on the junk yard search. I saw lots of power fold when I was looking for Lariat mirrors. Use this site https://www.car-part.com/.
I actually have my mirrors thay I will be selling, but I promised another member 1st shot. I will let you know.

Yes off the rear defrost. There is actually 2 relays - One for rear window and one for the mirrors. At least my XLT had both relays. And the wire actually came thru the firewall! So all i had to do was tap that wire and heated mirrors with rear defrost!

Yes, I have a plug where the folding button should be on the mirror control. The mirror switch with the folding button is only about $35 at dealerships and maybe less from china. I'm pretty sure this will work and if it does i'll get the module kit to open and close the mirrors from the keyfob later on.

i wouldn't mind the puddle lights and i'll look at the harness with that in mind for a later project.

yes, let me know what happens with your mirrors.

thanks again,
jim d.

Good news and bad news:

I found the exact wires I would need to both mirrors - positions 8 & 9 on the connectors, yellow with red or green and blues.

but no yellow/green and blue from the switch plug on the dash (although the two switches with or without power fold have different part numbers i'd be tempted to take that switch apart to see if the actual button is in there. I once reworked my one button craftsman garage door opener keyfobs to three buttons - the circuitry and switchpots are in there, only the plastic button and hole is missing. i used a cut nail for a button).

so now the problem is locating the harness connectors numbered C210 and C238 and running a simple Y harness from the dash switch to them. Does your Ford harness info note where those connectors are, or did you have to access them for your project? I can try to follow them down but i am no longer young, agile and thin and dread fishing around looking.

one last note: the three wires/positions for the puddle, turn and heat are NOT part of my harness if I were to try that mod.

thanks ahead of time,
Jim D.

let me take a look at the wiring diagrams
I had to add the wires to get Lariat mirrors.
Ideally the wires are present in the connector just inside the door.

I am not as young as I used to be, can no longer fool myself that I am not getting older! Will help as I can.

Thanks,
Yes the wires are in the connectors inside the door so i assume they run into those two connectors C210 and C238. If so, i can run a simple harness from the switch to those connectors.

Hey man, I have the same issue with my truck. I was looking into adding the folding mirrors. Did you get this to work?

it's a Snoway brand electric/hydraulic. ive had snoways since 1996 and i can't say enough good about them. bracket is from them for their light duty 22 series (height) personal plows. they are much quicker than other brands and lift and stack higher also.

That's pretty cool. You don't see many plows on smaller trucks.

I was hoping it was reciever mounted though as I'm on the hunt for a 2" reciever to sit right where my ACC module sits.

Moving the folding motors into non-folding mirrors would be a major undertaking. The PF mirrors for the ranger have a pivot tube riveted in place so you would have to drill that off to get the old power-folds free. For moving the BLIS glass over, it really depends on what actuator Brock is using for the glass. The Glass-subassembly clips into the glass actuator so if they fit the only trouble is wiring (well, and clearance if brock didnt leave space for the BLIS module.
