Last Friday I arrived home from work, parked the truck in the garage and left for dinner with the wife in her vehicle. Upon returning home about 3 hours later I decide to do some work in the garage. While fiddling at my work bench I heard a sound coming from the truck, definitely an electrical relay type sound, about 5 seconds long, stayed out there for an hour or so more and did not hear the sound again. Was curious if any of you have noticed this, I have not had any fuel in the oil issues "Yet” and made me think perhaps the vehicle may be priming due to some software glitch? If not this, then what do you supposed the mystery sound was? By the way, I do have the ford app on my phone but it was not in the garage with me so it was not a case of hitting the door unlock button. Weird...

I think that some electrical accessories, like the cigarette lighter, stay on for several hours, then switch off. Perhaps you happened to be there when the relay switched.

I noticed the Wife's Subaru doing the same thing one day. Looked it up and it had to do with the fuel evap system actuating. Might be the same thing here. Was it the same type of noise that you hear when you unlock the truck or open the door? I believe those are fuel pumps priming as the truck is assuming you're going to start it. I read that on here. So lord only knows if it's the truth. But it makes sense.

Mine does this as well. Supposedly it’s the high pressure fuel pump priming. Just for giggles smell the oil on your dipstick. Does it smell like gas? Enter the rabbit hole fuel in oil rabbit hole.

Those mentioning the fuel pump priming... waxthis said it was after being idle for three hours and that he didn’t trigger the locks.

SOLD Ranger, Not getting another, fuel in oil.
my 2019 XLT FX4, remote start, use a key to start, does this a lot. It sat for 3 days straight in the garage and yesterday, when I was in the garage, bing and zing all of a sudden. My wife was startled and asked what was that? I responded, "Does it all the time, its a transformer".
I have no clue what it is but it is obviously the computer powering up to check something

did you have your key with you?
Mine only does it when i unlock the doors, and its the fuel pump priming.
i have no idea what else wakes up the computer to make it do it. for all i know, it could do it when the wifi checks for updates, or the camera picks up movement. who really knows.
it definately isnt a russion in moscow hacking your camera and planning on black mailling you as you work at your work bench in a mankini. you're safe there.
How did you know I have a camera in there....:p

and sometimes they just get excited when their owner shows up. These Rangers are emotional.
You might be on to something there.
