Those weird sounds

when you open or close the door... not sure what they are, some electrical bits energizing? At any rate, I noticed my truck make those sounds the other day as I walked in front of it. I walked around to the driver's door and looked inside and nothing was lit up like it is when you open or close the door. Any ideas?

Thanks, but is it normal to do it without opening the door or any input from the remote?

Could be the evap system running a self test which uses a vacuum pump after the vehicle rests for several hours.

I wondered if that was just my truck. It's like a "tinny" sounding chime. Annoying. Sometimes when opening the door and other times just when walking by but it's consistent. All the time.

Mine does the same thing, sounds like it is coming from the front bumper corner area. don't know what could be causing it.
A chirping or chime sound, I've only heard it on closing or opening the door in my case.

It is likely the fuel pump running. Mine does the same thing but only when the FOB is in my pocket...otherwise when I walk by it or open the door, the pump does not run. Now my excuse...I am loosing a lot of my hearing...too many screaming race engines for too many years. It may be I am not hearing it...

its pre pressurising the fuel system etc. pretty normal, everyones does it.

Yupper. My Escape does the same thing. The BCM charges the fuel system upon opening the driver's door,which helps with a cold start. More of a squawk sound like stepping on a kitten's tail.

It's an actuator...you can see it through the passenger wheel well. I've tried to video capture it but it sometimes won't repeat. There's a small cylinder with a push rod coming out of it. When I lock/unlock the door, it moves and makes this strange noise.

It primes when you remote start it too. If you stand next to it when you initiate the remote start sequence it makes the same sounds before starting.

Thanks to all. It's a little annoying (to me anyway) as it sounds pretty cheesy. I was considering asking the dealer about it but sounds like it's normal.

Yep it's the truck energizing getting it's self ready to start happens when I unlock and open the doors.
