Correct; not the pivot side but the ones the end that engages the top when tilted against can. They’re plastic.
Just checked now. Yes mine are plastic. No issue since new.
Maybe they just had a plastic supply or processing issue. Should be an easy fix if they have a Chemical (plastics) Engineer, which they should.

Great thread!
I've just had my Ranger for about 9-10 days and I'm researching what I want to do.
I have pretty much decided on the BAKFlip MX4 and the Amp bed extender. Love the little corral/trunk type area the bed extender makes when in the bed, and the opening/closing actions of the gate and the tonneau are a match made in heaven for that.
Reading on the tail gate damper when I came across this thread.
Exactly what I have in mind! Thank you, OP!
And nice work.

Hi Folks,

I have a MX4 Revolver...quite old late March order...What are these clips. My back edge of the side rails was and is unfinished...are these the same clips? Where do these clips go. If to finish the back side rail, I want them as this really was a negative along with all the aluminum shards in the pickup box after install...poor manufacturing quality... Overall I am happy with the MX4, but like so much aftermarket...leaves a few details undone.

Hey, Phil. Me again!

Being new to the forum, I'm catching up on threads of interest. How have you liked the Revolver cover, now that you've had it for awhile? Do you use a bed extender with it, and if so, which one? With a couple thousand dollars in kayaks and gear in there, I really don't want a soft top and the fold up type doesn't work too well for our biking needs. Thanks!

HI Timothy,

The Revolver is excellent. I also have the Amp Research bed extender and I just used it today when we hauled a new 40 Gallon hot water for a neighbor who lost their hot water heater yesterday. I had the Revolver rolled up against the backlite...Neighbor was impressed.

Hi Timothy,

A couple things. I did mine early on and BaK was a bit disorganized, so Installed the toneau and then found parts in the box for the box headboard...no instructions...So had to dismantle the whole thing and install the bulkhead and figure out these weird expanding nuts. Once done it has been great except for one other thing... The production of the Revolver somehow produces aluminum shavings. My bed looked like an aluminum dusting. Vacuumed up...cycled the Roll up/Roll down and vacuumed so more. Finally got all the mfg chips cleaned up.... Also tail gate ends of the side rails were unfinished. I painted mine but I hear that they now have a rubber end cap for each side rail.

I bought the DeeZee tailgate damper as a lark, but it has grown on me. I like it. I painted my brackets black and wrapped the damper body with a Ford oval.... I have quite a few from my Managing of Ford's Off Road Racing for some 25 years.... For me...mods are very modest. I like the FX4 suspension as I was a key part of creating the FX4 brand. I made FX4 mean something more than a decal on the side of the pick up box. Many folks call it too bouncy, and it is as it comes to life when you are hard on it off roading... Oh well.....Time for a Scotch and early to bed....

Hopefully, they've got that stuff under a little better control by the time I get one, especially if I get a spray-in bed liner. I'd hate to get those shavings embedded in there. I have to believe mods are going to be very few simply because I don't have the technical skills nor the actual place to work on them.

As for the fx4, I'm really looking forward to driving the Tremor package and the fx4 on the same day to see what they actually feel like.

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to respond!
