Hey, where's the best and worst place you ever got stationed?

I'll go first...

  • Best: Tough call between Korea and Alaska.
  • Worst: Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Best: Seattle , Puget Sound , lakes and no real winter compared to Northeast
Worst: El Paso , FT. Bliss ,lousy dusty desert , no water except swimming pools .

I work in the advice market
USMC for 4 years - 1972-76.

Boot camp at Parris Island, radio school at San Diego, Naval Gunfire School at Subic Bay, Philippines.

Overseas assignments to Headquarters Company, 3rd MarDiv on Okinawa, Delta Battery 2/12, then to BN 1/9.

Rotated back to CONUS in December of ‘73 and assigned to MABS 31 at MCAS Beaufort.

Other than standing the IG Inspection drunk while stationed at Camp Courtney (Nov 11, 1972), I stayed below the ridge line and did nothing remarkable...:bandit:

Mad respect for all my past and present brothers and sisters who have stood the line with me, regardless of rank, branch or posting. You are the BEST.

My father was in the Army Air Corp and then the Air Force, I spent most of my younger years growing up on Air Force bases so... I joined the Navy. I was a Radarman aboard an ocean-going wooden minesweeper. I spent most of 1965 in the Market Time Operation off of Vietnam.
My dad was Army Air Corps too, stayed Army. I went Navy, '78-'98 to include 3 years on USS Fearless, MSO-442. Wooden ships, Iron Men!
