Today I removed and replaced the goofy SPORT 4X4 decals from the bed sides. I think these look a little better... a little more subdued.... a little more stealthy.

It’s wax. Hard and dry to the touch. The Ford dealer recommends it, and will include it as a dealer option at purchase. They’re not afraid of it.
Interesting,when I heard oil,that’s all I could think of.
‘I used to work for Zebart back in the early 80’s,and it too was a was based type of product.
Man that was a nasty job...
‘Fortunately I never did underside where it is just raining down on you all day.It was bad enough that it floated in the air all day long in the shop.

Welcome to the old man club lol...I recall they drilled holes and sprayed it inside of doors and frames...added at least 100 pounds of permanent sludge to your Detroit iron... ?

Just a good cleanup and detail on a beautiful Fall day. Clean enough to reflect a nice sunset today. :) ?

I was a kid back in the seventies so everything I drove was already a rust bucket lol...my first car, a 69 Triumph GT6 literally had rust through the driver floor that I would bounce up and down while rain blasted in...fun times ?

When I was a young boy, probably around 1966-67, our family car was a Corvair with sizeable holes rusted through the floor. We drove around in the Chicago winter with the rear windows rolled down so at least some of the snow that came in through the floor holes could exit through the windows instead of piling up in the back seat. Dad soon got a better job, and the Corvair was replaced by a VW Beetle that had to be push-started about half of the time because the battery was dead. No holes, though, and great memories watching my Dad run beside the open driver’s door before jumping in and popping the clutch to start it. My job was pushing on the rear bumper.

Wow... Corvair's first year was 1965 and it already had rusted through the floor by 66 or 67? That's crazy.

My grandfather was one of the first to purchase a Corvair here in San Diego. Because my Dad was familiar with air cooled engines and did a lot of work on V.W.'s in the family, he started working on my Grandfather's Corvair when he began having issues shortly after purchase. The mechanics at the dealership had not even seen one yet, let alone work on one. Word spread and my father was soon earning extra moneys as a part-time Corvair mechanic on the weekends in our garage. I was only 4 or 5 at the time and he taught me how to remove all the sheet metal shrouds around the engine and cylinders when he was doing tune-ups and oil changes.

Wikipedia says Corvair started in 1960. That sounds about right for what I’ve been told about my parents finances in those days. If it wasn’t a piece of complete garbage, they could never have afforded it.

Yep, you are correct. I think I was confusing it with the Corsa model which was introduced in 65.

My sister had a 63 ? or 64 Corvair. She gave me some driving lessons in it in 1967 when I was 16. It was only the second car I had ever driven. Good memories for sure. I broke my collar bone playing sand lot football on the day before my 16th birthday. Delayed my driving by a month or so. I was really bummed. :) ?

Al, you've already subconsciously decided to get one. As you can see in your replies here, your attempt to damper the damper is a double negative and therefore renders a positive.

Dave, he'll need the code within the next 48 hours.:inspect:

?
Each day I become more fearful that someone in this resistance is going to lose their right hand due to a dangerous damper and then learn that @FoD is their father! ??

I had it painted at a local body shop before I installed it.
