Was on here for hours the past few days and unable to find the answers I was hoping for. I love building cars/trucks and like to stand out and be different but seems like what I am looking to achieve may not be possible. I have a 2019 Ranger XLT Sport 4x4. I have a SCT tune, Rough Country leveling kit, 32" tall BFGOODRICH KO2s, Rough Country tow hooks, Go Rhino running boards, led headlights and yellow fogs, emblem overlays, bed rug and so on. The truck with the tune is quick and fun to drive and overall been a great purchase. I think the performance is good but would like to be heard a little bit wether it be turbo or slight exhaust sound. That being said I have heard exhaust clips and so far really do not like the way any of them sound as it is a 4 cylinder turbo in a truck. On my ST before my Ranger I had a catless DP, resonator delete and Cobb intake full stage 3 and custom tunes. On that car worked and sounded pretty good. I saw a thread on a resonator delete and seemed like it made no difference in sound which sucks. I could not find any sound clips of anyone with a DP and stock exhaust and this may be a good choice to get a small amount of sound under throttle but not be annoying and sound like a hot hatch but be in a truck. Intakes look like they offer some turbo noise but pretty much no performance so kind of a waste of money and same as a BOV no gains but just noise for $200. I also think the interior is nice but plain and would like to maybe add gauges or something if anyone has suggestions or photos or sound clips of there trucks would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like the new trend is "resonator delete", don't know how that started but you want a resonator. They reduce the annoying raspyness of the exhaust. And because most are straight through, there is almost no hindrance on performance.

Sounds like you want an exhaust though. Exhaust noise is so subjective but I would go more on the subtle side like you were saying. These motors in particular (st, rs, eco mustang, ranger) are very easy to make it sound like complete trash.

Downpipe+catback will obviously have the most performance gain vs one or the other separately. But then the noise factor comes back into play.
As far as turbo noise, this turbo is so small I wouldn't expect a whole lot of noise from it. As Im sure you know BOV noise is NOT turbo noise.

Yeah this is kind of the depressing realization I am finding haha. Also does not look like many companies are on board yet with making parts for these trucks. I hope with the Bronco coming out sense they are same platform hopefully will help the Ranger parts.

I like this but add a small muffler.
This design is straight pipe.

I don't mind the way it sounds as your setup has a deeper tone but when I hear that rolling by I think Focus ST or something not a truck. I think I may be best off leaving it alone but do want to see if someone has done a DP and stock exhaust. That way I have a performance bump and maybe a small addition in sound and maybe a little turbo spool sound would be nice to have as well. Its amazing how well these heavy trucks perform with this motor but man I wish they had better sound haha. At the end of the day I have to realize this will be more and more normal as time goes on as everyone is going smaller displacement and turbo at this point.

I replaced the stock muffler with a full 3" Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. I need to get a video of the exhaust note still but I can describe it. The Super Turbo produces a very nice deep tone with absolutely no raspy crack like many performance systems do on 4 cylinders. At freeway speeds it is as silent as stock with no drone in the cab at all. When accelerating under a freeway underpass or parking garage you can hear a deep, smooth, and mellow tone form the truck.

This video kind of gives you an idea of the Super Turbo, but is much quieter and smoother sounding than this with the short post resonator and tail pipe on the truck.

Understand. 2.3L Turbo. So 4 cylinder sound.
This is why I would had a small muffler. I found a small titanium muffler/resonator I would used and exit before rear wheel.
No good reason for titanium other than I like. Would add to prevent drone and might smooth the sound

Magnaflow cat-back exhaust does not have the pre-muffler resonator.

Not obnoxious loud, just confident sounding. I got tired if loud exhausts some time ago... besides a four cylinder is going to sound like a four cylinder.

There are already people talking about a coyote swap on the new Bronco, I want to see that done to a Ranger, then it'll sound good!
Since ford is absolutely just fascinated with ecoboost stuff they need come out with a 600hp 5.0 ecoboost already.

I think, that the amount of noise the stock rad fan makes, is what makes this 4cyl sound so..meh, I have an AFE intake and Turbosmart BPV, and you can't tell they are installed, which is nice...and not, you rarely hear either.

I had my favorite local exhaust shop in Vegas straight pipe everything from the cat back exiting with dual tips out the side and I absolutely love the look and sound

I put the Ford performance cat back kit on. The tone is perfect. Only one video online with an Orange Ranger. I looked and listened to the other kits.. The ford one has the best sound..it is a Borla made kit.

Same! I was blown away (heh) when I opened the hood and saw that Ford had used a clutch fan. I'm sure it was probably cheaper, but they could have likely improved the fuel mileage even more if the engine wasn't having to spin that massive parasitic load all the time.
