Yes mine has done it since new and I'm sure a lot of others have experienced it as well. Like you said only happens for a short bit then its quiet.
It almost makes me afraid to drive it very fast until I get a few yards down the road and the noise stops. Im afraid it will damage something.

Hi Michelle,

It is the "morning sickness" of the fan clutch. My 2019 Ranger does this every time I drive it....It is not going to hurt anything and it goes away pretty soon after you start the engine. It is a customer annoyance but is not damaging to the vehicle. I am surprised there has not been a fan clutch revision to lessen this, but appears nothing has been done. This has been covered in several threads since the 5G Ranger was put on sale for the North American market.

The fan clutch comes on fully engaged intentionally as a self test so you’ll know it’s failed before you need it. I’ve had other vehicles that do the same thing.
