No more front license plate required (as of 7/1/20) for my Ford Ranger in Ohio - I replaced it with this.

Very simple removal. Two screws, and two tabs that pop off the back edge of the bumper.

I bought mine April 4 and my temporary tag expired on 7/3. Worked out great for me. Looks better without front plate!

I know there's a joke in here somewhere about losing the ability to identify bad Ohio drivers as they approach from behind you, but I can't remember it.
I'm hip. Down here in FL we rely on front tags from the Snowbird states to warn us they are coming. On the other hand, I took off the front license plate holder on my 2019 Ranger XLT and installed a Euro tag holder to display the German tag from the town where I went to high school - Wiesbaden.

I wish Texas would follow suit and end the requirement for a front plate.

Until recently the law stated the front plate only had to be visible from the front of the car. This meant as long as the cop could see it you'd probably be fine. Now they have re-worded the statute and now reads
securely fastened at the exterior front and rear of the vehicle in a horizontal position of not less than 12 inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom
This caused me some issues as the factory mounting location for my MkV GTI was only 9.25" above the ground when the car was at factory height. It dropped to 7.75" after I lowered it. I had apparently gotten on an cop's bad side when had gotten pulled over and cited me for running a stop sign at an intersection that doesn't exist I went to court and won when I brought in dash cam footage along with a certified copy of the city planning maps showing that not only do the streets cited never intersect but that at no point for 3 min prior to being pulled over had I run any stop light or sign. The judge reprimanded the officer about it. Shortly after that I got pulled over and ticketed for my front plate being mounted too low no less than 5 times in a span of 2 months. All the officers were from the same sub-station as the original cop... Ended up filing complaints on all of them for retaliation and had a lawyer threaten to sue for violating my civil rights with attempted illegal search and seizure after my security cam footage caught the last cop making repeated passes by my house, stopping twice and walking up to my car and tugging on the door handles and peering in the windows of my car and house when his patrol area was 15 miles from my house. This same cop pulled me over in my neighborhood an hour after he was last seen on my security footage "investigating my property." He detained me and had a K9 come out to check my car. Luckily the K9 officer was from a different district and of course found nothing. As a result of all this 4 of the 5 were transferred and the last suspended w/o pay for 30 days and then transferred. The city after a year and a half reimbursed me for the associated court costs and lawyer fees. I suspect that the only reason they did this because one of the city council members lived in my neighborhood at the time and did not want any bad publicity.

Crap like this is why people hate cops. Too much power goes to their heads, sometimes.

Yeah, it definitely left me with a certain level of dislike for them, but not all are bad. Most cops I have met over the years through various special events and such were pretty cool and are just trying to do their jobs. Just some of them really do seem to go out of their way to be jerks.

I'm taking the bracket off this weekend. The highway patrol wanted to keep them....I think they reflect radar back better than the plastic covered bumper.
did you take your bracket off? I want mine of and would like to know if it just bolts on? Thanks in advance mike.

Like Harry said I think it was 2 10 mm bolts an two tabs clipped on the bumper...I broke a clip on mine though trying to pop it off.
