5000 mile review

So this morning stopping off for fuel I ticked over 5k in Blue.

Most of the good stuff is what most on here talk about. Plenty of power, good interior appointments, etc etc.

The gripes....there ARE gripes but minor things...which suck because these could be easily addressed by Ford IMo.

The door panels. There is no padding on the upper part of the door card/door panel. On a short trip...no big deal...longer trips...I tend to get fidgety because it rubs right close to my funny bone. Not funny.

The lack of vents for rear passengers...either center console or possibly through the headliner...nada.

The SYNC 3 system. All in all, the Android Auto is awesome (MUCH better than in my wife's Honda with her infotainment system)....BUT...the satellite radio in the Honda has an AWESOME feature...no matter what channel you are on....you move to another channel and it will BUFFER that song....so when you switch from say Ozzys Boneyard to Classic Vinyl you will hear the full song on Classic Vinyl. There seems to be a slightly more simplified version on SYNC 3 but not quite.

A-pillar grab handle on the drivers side.

SLIGHTLY more padding in the rear seats.



Does this make the truck unlivable? Hell naw...

Just convenience items I think that would be nice in the next gen.

I to just went over 5000 miles in about a year. I just don't have any complaints. Truck does everything I needed to do. Getting decent gas mileage. After I changed the tires and suspension the ride is much better. No complaints except I need to wash it more.

also hit 5k this week. Like the size and power train of this truck. Parking it is a breeze and easily gets me way from distracted drivers when i hit the gas. Ride was a little bouncy at first but have gotten used to it in 5k miles. As a DD it is a comfortable ride with good mileage for a truck, 23 mpg average. Took me awhile to get the manual drivers seat adjusted to were i like it. But now it will probably not move again.

There is one thing frustrating about the new ranger and this site is partly to blame. It can get expensive with all cool mods you people post. Getting windows tinted this week and have a swing out tool box on order right now. Mod tally so far over $1500, Think i may need an intervention.

Ride was a little bouncy

Mine was pretty bouncy until I slapped the eibach rear shocks in. It rides firm but very controlled. I think it's well worth the $206 an an hour of time to install.

That intervention thing is real! Owned truck 3 weeks and already about $2000 in. Lariat LED headlights and fogs, hitch, mats splash guards, engine cover, LEDs for bed and third brake light... just getting started.

Parking it is a breeze

I feel like a total idiot at times because I am still getting used to parking my Ranger. This is my first truck and I have always had smaller cars before. But I usually park at the back of a lot anyway to avoid door dings. I find it kind of hard to tell where the front bumper is due to the angle of the hood. I've been backing in spots a few times as well to get used to using the review camera but still botch it more often than not and have to make corrections.

I've been driving for a few decades with no at fault accidents, scrapes or fender benders. So I feel like a total tool when I have to keep correcting myself when parking my Ranger. I'm sure people that have been driving trucks for awhile will get a good kick out of my post. I'll get used to it though, only had the truck for 2 weeks.

Yeah I have the collision sensors and they help a lot. Still takes some getting used to and trusting what all those sensors are telling me. I'll get used to it over time and stop looking like a total jackass when parking. Haha

Original owner of 1998 f-150 traded in on 2019 ranger. Ranger is narrower and shorter wheel based so it has tighter turning radius. Feels way more nimble than the old truck.

You'll get the hang of it. Use something on the truck to line up with say parking curb two spots over as a guide on how close to the curb you are. Do this with my mustang to not scrap the chin spoiler.

We also have a 16 Accord Touring and the Ford infotainment is orders of magnitude better....and or Sirius in the Honda does not do that and I switch around a lot.

So, I had the same complaint about the door panels, had it in my mustang too, the door "handle" was too low and the door sill was too high and hard to put your elbow on for any extended period of time. It's like they never put an *actual* person in these for long drives and tried to see how they feel.

The "pad" it sits on is similar to those "washable" suction cups you get for good phone mounts, but different. It lasts quite a few weeks for me before I need to rinse it with warm water and reapply. But I managed to finally get to a point where my arm is at a good height for long drives.

I purchased my Ranger March 15th of this year and already have 9600 miles on it. I don't have any big complaints about other than the location of the folding mirror button and the controls on the steering wheel my big hands are always bumping them
