Ever figure it out? I'd guess the phonebook isn't downloading to the unit. Did you allow contact access and all that?
No, I haven't figured it out, and I did try contact access and everything else that was suggested to me.. My phone pairs to the unit, and then it starts the contacts download. When the download completes, I can see my phonebook, and all the entries are the same as on my phone. I can touch the SYNC 3 screen and place a call that way, but I just can't do it using my Call voice command. The voice command does work when I say Dial 123-4567.

I'm beginning to think that my Alcatel SmartFlip phone is just not smart enough.

Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the added info. I'll update my guess to something I've seen once before. Since you can see the contacts, and can make phone calls via digital dialing, I think what's happening is there is some problem when it downloads the contacts. After that is done, the info should be passed to the voice engine to generate the commands. It sounds like that isn't being done. Only time I've seen this is with a basic pay-go style phone.

Appreciate your response and 'updated guess'. My phone is not a pay-go phone, although I know that both Walmart and Best Buy do sell this particular model as a prepaid phone. So since my plan with AT&T is not a pay-go, do you have any suggestions on how to solve this issue?

Do you think it would help if I did Master Reset of my Sync 3 system? I know that would erase all my personal data, but thus far all I have is my Contacts (i.e., I have yet to store any navigation POIs or destinations).

Thanks......

Most likely that will only give you more headaches trying to get everything set back up. I'm assuming you've tried deleting the phone and repairing. If not, you can try that. Also, you can manually force it to re-download the contacts through the phone settings menu. Those are the least painful options. If it's some Bluetooth issue that's causing it, then it's possible none of these will clear it up. Are you on v3.3? If so, then the update to v3.4 that should be out in ~a month (as of now) might have something in it to help as well.

Yes, I've done the re-pairing and manual downloads several times. I am currently using v3.3, so I will await the 3.4 update to see if that helps. In the interim, I will just use my iPhone 6 when traveling. Maybe I will use my AT&T Alcatel SmartFlip phone in target practice, lol.
