I used to get D Plan pricing on up to two new vehicles per year. I really miss that, but feel like I got a very fair deal on my Ranger. We agreed on the value of my trade-in and the price I would pay when the vehicle arrived. All done with nothing more than a handshake.

I get X plan as my one company was relatively large and the company that bought us after that is too. They both buy a lot of vehicles. JCI who I worked for before made batteries and car interiors too.

Can the x plan pricing be combined with other discounts and such? I am a MCA member and I have an x plan pin #. A dealer I spoke with on the phone yesterday told me there are incentives for me being in law enforcement. I didn't tell her I have the x plan though.

All the rebates you qualify for stack with X-plan pricing. You will get the $500 first responder rebate and $500 retail credit rebate and possibly the dealer stock $750 rebate, but that may be local to me. I'm pretty sure if you order, you won't get the dealer stock rebate. Some discounts may be better than x-plan if purchasing from dealer stock.

What is a Retail Credit Rebate?

That one may be a local rebate. When I ordered mine, I got a $500 Retail Credit rebate, but because it was an order and not dealer stock, didn't qualify for the other $750.

It is fairly complicated. Below are some quotes from the AXZ rules. If a dealer chooses to participate in the program they are required to follow the rules, So they should know them .

From time to time the Company may offer incentives or rebates. Unless specifically excluded by the Company, incentives or rebates are available to New Vehicle Purchase Program customers in addition to the Plan price. Ask your dealer for details.

8. Am I eligible for other incentives?

Yes. Plan participants are eligible for most public incentives and many incentives normally paid to the dealer. There are some offers that are not compatible with the Plan. Your dealer can best determine which incentives you are eligible for.

Dealer-to-Customer Gifts and Fees

The following are guidelines regarding what is, and is not, permissible.

Nominal Gifts

  • Unless prohibited by your state law, Family AZ-Plan and/or Friends & Neighbors X-Plan customers may accept items or services of nominal value (i.e. $50 or less dealership cost) as a gift or reward in connection with an AZ- Plan and/or X- Plan sale or lease. All gifts or rewards offered by the dealership for sponsoring an AZ-Plan and/or X-Plan sale or lease must be comparable with gifts or rewards offered by the dealership on retail sales or leases, and may not exceed $50 in value (dealership cost).
  • Examples of acceptable gifts include a wall calendar, Motorcraft apparel, gas card, an oil change, a car wash, etc, provided the item or service does not exceed $50 in value (dealership cost).
  • Dealerships may not offer services or items below their market value (dealership cost) to stay within the $50 limit (i.e. $1 for rust proofing or $10 for a bed liner).
  • No service, accessory or items valued above $50 may be accepted by AXZ-Plan customers, even if the same offer is extended to non-Plan customers. The only exception would be an FDAF/LMDA promoting a limited time offer which covers an entire group of dealers in a market area (i.e. free bed liners with the purchase of an F-Series). Since all dealers participate this would not give one dealer a competitive advantage over another for Plan business.

When I bought mine, I got X-plan (qualified through my employer) and then (as I recall) an additional $3500 in rebates. $1500 of a rebates was a series of individual $500 rebates with names like "Ford Bonus Cash." If I understand correctly, dealerships have a limited number of these small rebates to apply at their discretion.

One more element of using x-plan revolves around the trade-in. The dealership cannot change the purchase price that is set by the x-plan formula, but they can incorporate dealer discounts into the deal by simply adding them to the value of the trade-in. On paper this doesn't change the new vehicle price, but has the exact same effect of decreasing the amount of cash you turn over to them.

I'd first verify that this dealer participates in the program, if I am not mistaken all dealers are not required to.
I also believe you need to notify the dealer from the get go that you intend to use X-Plan.
My dealer found 2K worth of rebates which applied to my X-Plan purchase last Jan., while I just found 1.5K worth, I certainly did not argue about where he found the extra .5K.

Good to know, however I did not offer a trade in.
Had I appeared on the lot with my decrepit '99 Honda CR-V, they'd no doubt order me to get it outta there, lest all those new Ford's become infected with the "C" virus!

The part that got me about the FX4 package was the rear locker. As far as the suspension goes, I personally feel the FX4 bounces way too much during low speed conditions, and driving around town, however it is very nice and smooth on the highway. The skid plates included in the FX4 package are nothing special at all. So, you could save some money on the purchase by eliminating the FX4 package, then spending that money on aftermarket skid plates and suspension and end up with much better quality parts.
I went with a STX 4x4. Placed order, did not buy off lot. Ordered the rear locker as an option. Also rear slider for the defrost. Was cheaper than the FX4 package.

Have taken it off road, on some pretty nasty trails, with no issue.

I posted this in the sub forum for sales and negotiating on a Ranger, but I figured I would also put it here...

I've been looking at a Ranger XL FX4 online that I like that has a MSRP of $36,710. I emailed and asked for the X-Plan pricing plus any applicable incentives. This is what I was emailed back with:

MSRP/Sales Price: 36,710.00
Rebates/Discounts: -3,523.42
Sales Price: 33,168.58
GATVT (tax): +2,203.38
Tag & Title Fee: +144.00
Dealer Service Charge: +100.00
Total: 35,633.96

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I've always heard from folks that X-Plan pricing is a pretty good deal and is better than what you can get at any dealership with their incentives and sales prices. I looked at basically the same Ranger XL FX4 in a different color at a different dealership with some accessories added on, WITHOUT X-PLAN PRICING, and this is how it broke down:

MSRP: 36,970.00
Discount: -3,885.00
Rebate: -2,500.00
"Good to Go Package" (floor mats, tinted windows, bed cover) +1,777.00
GATVT (Tax): +2,191.86
EFT Fee (????): +149.00
Dealer Service Charge: +699.00
Title Fee: +18.00
Registration Fee; +25.00
MVWR Fee (????) +3.00
Total: 35,447.86

The X-Plan looks like a rip-off if I can get what is basically the same exact truck in a different color with dealer added accessories for almost $200.00 less! Am I missing something here?

NOTE: I wouldn't pay that for the bottom truck anyways. That price seems too high.

It looks like they both are showing MSRP as the starting point. X plan would be less. Also plan rules limit the dealer service charges like the 699. on on the second quote. Dealers are not required to participate in AXZ plans and some don't. But if they do, they must follow the rules. Some would not tell you what X plan price is unless you had a PIN # because that gives you an idea of what they have in it. Also any factory incentives are discounted from the X plan price. Here is a sample invoice that will give you an idea about how the plan works

So for that first quote, I provided them with my X-Plan PIN. That bottom quote was built straight off the MSRP without X-Plan pricing for sure.

silly question, but why were the same dollar amounts of rebates not added in to the first quote?" Just because you are getting x-plan pricing doesn't mean you shouldn't get any applicable rebates.

Have them break it down item by item. Make them break down the discounts and rebates. Not from the MSRP, but from the X-plan price.
