I completely agree - while I don't think the interface in Sync is bad, the whole update process is archaic I think. It really should be a LOT more robust than it is. Couple it with the horrible website experience on the Ford owner website and it makes for a bad experience.Hi Rob
I still fail to get the map update to load...Spent $40 for Ford's memory stick...same problem. Called the help desk at Ford Customer Care...could not help...got a trouble ticket number and a promise that someone would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. 5 days later, no call. My opinion continues to be SYNC SUCKS!

It is one of the reasons I mostly use my phone for navigation - phones do a much better job of navigation than built in systems do I think. I typically have my map up (on the home screen) which is nice to see where I'm at, but don't use the navigation piece too often. One advantage phone providers have is that people replace phone hardware much more often than they replace cars (typically). I have a 2004 Honda Accord with a Nav system, which was state of the art when it was released. Now it is just an antique artifact with outdated maps they want $150 to update which is ludicrous....
