As a fresh green apprentice electrician my journeyman told me we were going to do some DC work. Unfortunately he was not referring to Direct Current electricity. No, it was Drilling Concrete.

I mention that just to say that I have done my share of drilling holes overhead in concrete.

But that my friends is pure genius.

I was thinking that too when I saw it - sure, it is kind of crude, but it looks well thought out and he is keeping a LOT of that concrete dust from his face.

There was an electrician everyone called Casper but that wasn't his real name.
As told by his buddies. The story is that after a full day of installing lights on a concrete ceiling and eating all that dust, he showed up on day two with a pillow case with eye holes cut in it, Thus the name Casper the ghost.

Did I forget to mention that they were working off a rolling scaffold, and this happened long before hand rails or tying off where required. As you probably already guessed, his vision being impaired he stepped off of the scaffold. He lived to tell about it and gain a nick name. Darwin lost this one.

In todays times concrete dust is known to contain silicate , which is harmful to your lungs. Really ?
PPE would be a little more than a pillow case for protection from the dust (actually a lot more). Working off a scaffold would require fall protection.
